Answer:
I have one, and can say that it is very much silent, actually, more than expected, others have been very noise. Just when it is completely empty, you can heard the ice falling, but it is not a disturbing noise.

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 3.3 out of 5 by 23 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Do Not Buy I bought this icemaker 6 months ago for my office. It stopped working after 4 months. We had it serviced 3 times and each time it stopped making ice cubes. The service people were very nice and Norpole agreed to refund my purchase price after letters and many phone calls. It didn't make up for the fact I spent over $1000 for a product that didn't work. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by JUNK! Purchased this for our company. As soon as we had it installed the ice maker did not work. Then we had to use the warranty to get it fixed. The service company fixed it and not much longer after that the ice maker needed repairs again. The door is not very durable and was broke within the first few months that the ice maker started working. We have had it for probably two years now, and have had a service company come out numerous times. It is now not producing ice and I am thinking that we will need to do some better research to find an ice maker that truly works from the beginning to the end! March 14, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Silent and effective Ice Maker It was really easy to install it, and it didn't take too long to start working, it does make clear ice, at least I didn't had any issues with it so far. The quality of the material doesn't feel very strong, but it still looks good, a bit smaller than expected. July 31, 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Stay away from Norpole Products I bought this machine 1/24/14 for $1079.10 on SALE. Within the first year I had warranty service twice. As of Jan. 2016 the machine NO LONGER PRODUCE ICE. I was lucky to get 2 years out of this machine. I believe it's made by Magic Chef. I would not classify this ice maker as a "commercial" ice maker. As far as I'm concerned, it's a piece of junk. Buyer Beware!!! February 2, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good Value I have only had this ice maker for about 3 weeks now. It replaced an old Scotsman under counter model 20 + years old. Have seen complaints about noise but for me it is much quieter than my old one. I have it in the garage and it’s winter the ambient temperature is about 50 deg F. In these conditions it makes a lot of ice. It can fill the bin in about 4 hours. It will be much slower in the summer though just don’t know yet. Sometimes I load the ice into my refrigerator dispenser during a party. The “cubes” are very big they barely fit through the ice dispenser in my refrigerator. I am going to just get an ice bucket for parties now. Yes you need a condensate pump or a drain handy. I already had a condensate pump that was a replacment /repair for my old ice maker. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by not worth the money Ice Maker came dented and after first use stopped making ice. October 27, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by was the best thing ever My husband fishes all the time we just love the ice anytime we wont. Was the best investment. Love the shape of the ice cube. does every thing I wanted. September 8, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Ice Maker We are really enjoying our new ice maker for our outdoor pool bar. The ice maker was easy to set up as I just plugged it in, connected the water line and set up the drain line. It took longer to unpackage than it took me to set up. And it is heavy so I would recommend 2 people. Ice was instantly on its way and I would say the bin filled in just a couple of hours. The ice cubes are perfect. I do not know how much energy we are using but I am assuming we are losing some energy through the top opening. A hard close top to keep the cold in would be a good idea. Regardless we enjoy so far.
