4 Qt. Wooden Bucket Electric Ice Cream Maker is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Cool Old Fashioned Ice Cream Maker With Wooden Bucket This is the first time I've ever made my own ice cream, so I was nervous it wouldn't turn out right. It not only turned out right, it turned out totally awesome. I love the Nostalgia Old Fashioned Ice Cream Maker. Using the most simple recipe in the owners manual, which is the Chocolate Ice Cream Recipe, I created homemade ice cream that literally taste as good as Ben & Jerry's for a fraction of the cost. This recipe also had the fewest number of ingredients. Milk, Cocoa, and Condensed Milk. Wow, it turned out so rich and creamy, and very delicious. I cut the original recipe down to 2/3, tweaked the cocoa with a substitute, and used lowfat milk. The finished product made about a quart and a half of ice cream (+/-) . The Canister sat in the freezer to chill overnight before I made the ice cream, and the cans of Condensed Milk sat in the refrigerator to chill. For the cocoa, I opened up four individual packets of Swiss Miss Instant Hot Chocolate (without marshmellows). So, the final Chocolate Ice Cream recipe is as follows: Two 14-ounce cans Condensed Milk, Four Cups Milk, Four Individual Packets Swiss Miss Instant Hot Cocoa. Using the pre-chilled ingredients it took the Ice Cream Maker about 30 minutes to complete. The Canister can store the finished product in your freezer. The lid comes with an optional handle for specifically that purpose. I used a total of about 12 cups of ice and 4 cups of rock salt. That includes the extra ice and salt I added halfway through the process. The Old Fashioned Wooden Ice Cream Bucket is very cute and very authentic looking. It is lined well inside. The electric motor worked well and churned at an even pace. I'm happy with the results and look forward to trying their other recipes included in the owners manual.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Old fashion looking Ice Cream maker without the cranking handle This is a great looking ice cream maker that reminds you of the old fashion kind that you used to spend hours churning to make homemade ice cream. At first I thought the outside was plastic that looked like wood, but when I looked closer I saw it was wood. The problem I had with wooden ones in the past was that they took so long to make ice cream because it took so long to make the wood cold enough to freeze. Inside the wood on the outside is a plastic liner that will freeze quickly if you put enough salt into the ice when you pour it. Some of the reviews of this machine are not good and I believe its because they did not add enough salt when they tried it. Salt is the key to making it freeze. I also like the fact that this machine has a see through top so you can watch the mixture turn into ice cream. The motor also is strong and pretty quiet with an automatic shut off feature that they all should have so they don't burn out. Having a handle to carry the maker is really handy too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Homemade ice cream! Love the idea of making homemade ice cream where you know every ingredient that is in it, and this 4 quart wooden bucket electric ice cream maker is what you need. I also have another maker, but it is manual, so obviously I prefer not hand churning it for thirty minutes. Comes with everything you need to start making ice cream, including directions and recipes (obviously excluding the actual ingredients). The only thing I would say it the actual bucket is plastic and not real wood, which takes away from the actual look and nostalgia of it, but all in all still a good thing to have.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice product This is a great product. The perfect size and compact. Everything you need comes with this product well not the food parts or the salt and ice. Easy to follow directions to set up the machine. The wooden base makes it look old for homemade ice cream or yogurt. The directions tells you how to use the machine and gives you several different recipes to follow to make your favorite ice cream. Very high quality machine

Rated 5 out of 5 by from very nice This is a really nice appliance. It is great for just myself or for when kids and/or adults are over. It is made too look nice just like the old one we had as a kid except this is electric. It had some recipes but I am going to start making my own flavor ideas. The materials used in it seem to be quality. The four quart side means there is plenty for everyone when there is a group here.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Major P O S We used this ice cream freezer twice. It took half a day to freeze the ice cream and the pretty little bands around it fell off as did the name plate. It looks like it was made by a middle school shop class.
