My window is 41" wide but the awning I want is 48" wide. Also, I have 2 other windows that are 31" wide, but the awning is 36". So can the awning be wider than the window frame or do you have to install them only on the window frame? Also I wanted to put up shutters too, but if the awning is wider than the window, the support arms would have to go right on the shutters wouldn't they? Any way to get around this without ordering custom made awnings?

Answer:
You do not have to mount directly on the window casing. You can mount to the siding. Also you can order in 1" increments so you could specify a width that would be between the window casing and shutters.
