Can this be used for deck building and fence/gate repair and building?

Asked by: JM
I do not see why not. I put 3", 2 3/8", and 2" galvanized nails through it. They all functioned just fine.

This is my second inexpensive framing nailer and I'm very satisfied with the purchase. Compared to the one which died of a busted piston seal (not from Home Depot) this unit is much easier to adjust. I've completed one project so far requiring about 200 nails with no misfires. The one I replaced misfired frequently and required a hex key for depth adjustments. In contrast the NuMax has a simple barrel adjustment requiring no tools. I was able to easily adjust between countersinking into a (dry) PT 4x4 to leaving the nail heads slightly proud in much softer materials. For a tool used only a few times a year I can't justify the price of the well known brands but this one meets all of my needs. My only negative was not being able to pick it up immediately in the store and having to wait a few days for it to be delivered.

We do not do all that much big construction here on the farm, but we thought we would get a nailer just for the heck of it. We did not want to invest a lot of money in a nailer so we looked around and found this one and the price was great. We completed the coop and some other building projects and the machine worked great. For us DIY'ers this is a great tool and is filling all our construction needs. The only problem we have been having is the clip that is supposed to hold the non-maring tip in place keeps falling off. So far we have been able to find it, but it seems it could be enginered a bit better.

This gun will not shot the last 4-5 nails in the rail and will only hold 1 clip of nails at a time due to needing to remove the last few nails. Spend the extra money and buy the RIDGID nail gun! It's worth the extra $

On the first use, 6 hours into building a shed it misfired multiple times and then eventually it shot a nail every 5-7 attempts. The nail was properly loaded with nothing blocking the pathway. It would have been a great purchase it if continued working. Finished with a hammer and nails…Sad...

I bought mine less than a year ago, and I have to say at first I was impressed with it! I oiled it daily and everything was running fine, though I only used it for my hobbies so it wasn't as "punished" as it would have been had I used it for work! BUT not even six months later it quit working, and I have been attempting to get mine fixed ever since October of last year, even after writing to Numax to find replacement parts they can't be bothered to return an email!!! So I give this an extremely low rating, due to poor performance of the company as a whole!

Only used it to drive a few nails to see how it works. My first impression is its size and weight. I was not expecting it to be so big and bulky. Did work properly with the few nails used. I suppose since it takes a lot of effort to drive the nails that the device has to be that large. Wish they could make a smaller unit for home use which will be the way I will use it. Unsure how to change trigger mechanism as instructions indicate remove O ring and pull out trigger pin. Cannot get the pin out. Will have to do more research.
