Questions & Answers

Wiring for the 765HL

Does the 765HL require a seperate circuit or can it be wired to the existing power in the bathroom? If it requires a seperate circuit, can one circuit handle two units?
Asked by: John
One circuit is enough if there aren't any high draw fixtures on same circuit.

Can this unit vent air one way out or does it blow air back into the room as it vents?

Asked by: HomeOwner19
This unit has an exhaust fan and a heater and a light. The exhaust fan will move air out. The heater will have warm air blowing down.

Can it be installed in a 2x4 or is a 2x6 ceiling required?

I have a 2x4 lowered ceiling. Will there be and heat concerns in the ceiling cavity?
Asked by: JP
The ductwork is 4 inches in diameter, 2x4 is only 1-1/2 by 3-1/2.

How do I change the lightbulb? The unit is very secure to the ceiling and I do not want to break anything. Thanks

Asked by: Bill
There is a little screwdriver slot on the edge of the translucent lamp cover. Gently pry the lamp cover off to access the lamp. Once the lamp is removed you will see a knurled thumbscrew. Remove this to take down the entire grill so you can vacuum out the fan and heater every once in a while. Be sure the fan and heater are OFF before you vacuum....bzzzt!

It is an excellent combo exhaust fan/heater/light for a shower install job. Although there was one minor issue with the installment, I rated this product 5 stars based on its cost, CFM rating, and overall combined benefits. In a 4 ft. X 4 ft. shower, the Cubic Feet per Minute (CFM) rating of 100, is quiet; and just loud enough as a good diagnostic check to enable listening for the exhaust fan and heater are both fully operational. The heater is a much-welcomed benefit during the winter months. NOTE 1: the heater wiring must be on an independent dedicated 20-amp circuit with its own wall switch. The fan and light are on a 15-amp circuit. For the exhaust fan, a Lutron Countdown Timer switch, model number: Maestro MA-T51H-LA (see attached photo), set to 10 minutes, is plenty of time for a good body scrub. So, just before getting into the shower, press the countdown timer once. After getting out, the fan continues to run as it removes excess moisture in the air until the timer shuts off. NOTE 2: The plate that sits above the lightbulb, must be installed prior to inserting the bulb. For some weird reason, the screw that came with the equipment--was simply too short, and could not secure the plate. I solved that problem with a 1 inch Phillips Head Screw Post (see photo), which are available online. WARNING: unless, you very knowledgeable, and comfortable with installing this equipment, I highly recommend having a well-qualified, very knowledgeable, certified, licensed, bonded, and insured contractor or electrician install this product for you in your home or business facility to give you that added peace of mind of safety and security. Best of luck with your project.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Installed for a remodel of rectangular 6 x 12 hallway bath into a roll-in shower for wheelchair. ... Installed for a remodel of rectangular 6 x 12 hallway bath into a roll-in shower for wheelchair. Flipped floorplan, closed off hallway door (which became corner for roll-in shower), and opened up side for WC access, then other side had sink at outerwall below window, toilet beside. Our project was completed October 2016, which is when we moved in. Used during winter and now summer. Fan is loud, but that is fine. Heater works very well! The contractor placed in a triple switch plate. One switch controls the exhaust out with light, the other does strictly the heat (no light). The 3rd switch is for the potlight over the sink. We also have a pot light over the shower, so lighting is covered when the heat switch is on. Thus far, we are very happy with this unit and am considering something similar for updating the 2nd bathroom (which is smaller).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good so far RE: NuTone 100 CFM Ceiling Exhaust Bath Fan with Light and Heater I ordered this to replace my existing unit (unknown brand) in my master bathroom. The installation was easy and straight forward. This unit is much quieter than my old unit, and has a nice clean appearance. We only use the heat function a few times during the year, but it is nice for taking the chill from the room.
