Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by DIYRemodeler Works nice but a couple cautions
I bought this for installation as part of an ongoing bath remodel in an older home
The unit is quieter than the other, older Nutone we have in another bath, but not by a real lot. That may have some to do with the fact that I had to engineer my own mounting system instead of using Nutone's. I do like the directed heat feature; very helpful in getting more heat to the floor rather than just near the ceiling as the older or cheaper units do.
As with all Nutone units, the light bulb is in a recessed housing, so if, like me, you are replacing a fixture that allowed the light to hang down farther for 360-degree light, you will not get as much room lighting as you had before. I was aware of this when I bought.
A couple notes for installers:
1.) I was surprised to find out Nutone does NOT include switches with its fans anymore. For nearly $200, I assumed I would get a switch like I did when I bought an $80 Nutone a few years back. Nope. I live in the country. This made necessary a 50-mile round trip to buy an $18 Broan Nutone P66W switch. Get yours while at the store. They are located next to the fans. Even though the Home Depot rep told me they had none when I called ahead, I found them quickly once in the store.
2.) This unit is not well engineered for new old work. In other words, if you are putting the unit in an older home's existing bath that did not have a light-heat-fan unit before, you may wind up figuring out your own mounting system rather than using the mounting arms included. Rather than use the mounting arms, I wound up mounting it with drywall screws through the housing to two boards that span the gap between ceiling joists in my old house. The mounting rails that are included attach to the sides and allow just 1/2" for drywall. They are designed for new work, and the instructions are all about new work. My ceiling was thicker than 1/2 inch. For old work, a unit suspended by the top or with mounting rails that are higher up on the sides may be desirable. (It would be very easy for Nutone to attach another pair of mounting slides near the top of the enclosure, above the existing ones to make the unit far more adaptable.)
3.) In old work, be aware that the unit requires a dedicated 20 amp circuit so be prepared to run one or have one installed. Make sure you have room to add a circuit breaker or have a spare fuse socket in your main box. Might as well plan it out and get your wire and materials while you are at the store if you plan to DIY it.
4.) It may be useful to run a good quality caulk around any gaps between the housing and the drywall after installation, especially if you have blown-in attic insulation (see photo). It helps with energy efficiency and keeps the insulation from migrating down into your cover.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by CK0445 This product works well
The installation of this heater/vent/light was fairly easy. It was installed in an unheated bathroom. The 765HL heater/vent has been a great replacement for the original wall heater (long since removed). Wiring of the heater and vent function is via a single pole double throw switch that is routed through a timer. This allows the user, a stroke patient, to make the selection of function without the fear of leaving the unit on unattended. The light is a LED bulb and is a good night light with low cost. The exhaust vent was routed to an outside vent and removes moisture from the bathroom rapidly and quietly.

Although this is the most expensive unit home depot sells it is well worth the money. Quiet operation, great air movement, and the heater is excellent in the winter. Installation is simple.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Jan49 The directional control for the heat is a great feature.
This product is a replacement for a similar 10 year old unit. I appreciate the quietness of operation compared to the existing unit. I also like the directional control for the heater.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by yoyo good, but noisy
All features work well, but the exhaust fan is very noisy. The heating unit is especially good. I would recommend the product with the caution about the excess noise of the exhaust.

The heater in this unit failed after a very short time of use. The fan was not installed immediately after purchase, so the one year warranty expired before the fan was put in service. I purchased a new heater element from Nutone and it failed after less than an hour of use. The exhaust temp is well in excess of the thermal fuse rating for this device. The thermal fuse is what protects against an overtemp situation and will burn out if it's temperature rating is exceeded for very long. The fuse in this unit's heater is rated at 110 deg. C (230 deg. F) at 1500 watts, while the exhaust temperature is in excess of 300 deg. F. I don't know if this is a design flaw, but according to the other comments, I am not the only person to experience this problem.
