Customer Questions & Answers

What is 110 CFM, and what are 4.0 sones?

I am needing a really quiet and very small openings.
Asked by: Anonymous
110 CFM refers to the volume capacity of the fan. It moves 110 cubic feet of air per minute. Sones is a measure of the perceived sound level that the unit produces. A measure of 4.0 is not terrible but it is not low either.

I want to be sure I get the same fan I have now. It says Nutone Model 8814R "B" Unit for use without Model 8814R "A" unit. Can you let me know?

Asked by: Jim
Yes, it is.

110 CFM Ceiling Exhaust Fan is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from This fan is relatively quiet, works well, doesn't cost to much. We ordered this to replace the same fan, after 18 years of use, so we knew what we were getting. It's quiet, works well and doesn't cost too much.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from NuTone 8814R Exhaust Fan -- Excellent Performance/Value The exhaust fan performs as advertised. The installation was very quick and easy. It is a bit loud, but does move quite a bit of air (twice as much as the builder's grade). The area (above the walk-in shower) is free of steam/moisture. The sky light is staying dry.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Face plate slips down My electrician chose and installed this fan for me in a very small bathroom. I think the fan portion works fine, but the face plate/ cover vibrates loose and falls off frequently. It hangs on metal clips, so at least it doesn't fall the whole way to the floor. I had to use removable sticky strips to hold it to the ceiling. Overall, I wouldn't purchase this again, and I'm waiting for an opportunity to replace it.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Low quality item I installed this fan 3 months ago and the plastic fan blade came loose and forced itself down to the point where it rubs. Now it makes a terrible noise. I have since fixed it with jb weld but for a device that is as simple as a bathroom fan that costs 80 dollars should not have these kinds of issues

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A good but noisy fan Good unit except for the noise. Had the same unit previously that had worn out. It was quieter. Otherwise not a bad fan.
