Customer Questions & Answers

i want to update my fan but there is no wood framing around the opening. What is the best way to update without taking down drywall to frame.?

Asked by: Anonymous
You really only need one wood support on the side that you are going to attach(screw) the fan to. Just scab a board on the one side and toe nail or screw it in place, then attach as per instructions.

What type of light bulbs can be used in this fan?

What type of light bulbs can be used in this fan? I see the maximum wattage up to 100w but not the TYPE of bulbs that can be used. The light just burnt out with 3 months of installation and I would like to replace this with a bulb that can last a LONG time!
Asked by: cara
I had difficulty installing a LED bulb because it's a little larger than incandescent bulbs. Bending the support in the lamp housing allowed enough space. A compact CFL may fit but not the large spiral ones. LED bulbs are affordable now (less than $2) so it's silly to buy anything else.

I tested it by blowing out a match. Hardly any smoke got sucked through this exhaust fan. I won't even mention what the bathroom smells like after a bowel movement.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I've heard quieter chainsaws Not only is this exhaust fan LOUD... It's an underpowered piece of garbage with a light that barely works. Sure, install this in your house if you want to have a moldy bathroom and miss the toilet because you can't see. I have one of these in my house and I'm ripping it out and replacing it with an actual fan. This thing just makes noise and does little else.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Used the parts to ugrade an older version I had the older version of this model in my bathroom and the face plate had yellowed. I bought this hoping the components would be compatible with the older metal casing. Nu Tone has done a great job of keeping the design of their products consistent. I just wanted to use the newer face plate but I was able to replace the fan, the light holder, and the face plate; everything except the metal box. Awesome! Disassembles and assembles easily.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nutone 763RLN Vent/Fan/Light Install a Breeze An Elegent looking, cheap and easy to install Bathroom Vent/Fan/Light from Nutone. Good for small size bathrooms upto 45 sq ft. The noise levels are not too distracting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Protect Your Bathroom And Make It Smell Better One of the great features of having an effective exhaust fan it getting rid of moister in the air that if left on surfaces will cause water damage. NuTone's 763RLN very effective at addressing this concern. Of course its' powerful suction and circulation also quickly eliminates bad smells as well. I would strongly recommend this exhaust fan!!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from worked well for a month Purchased March 2011 and installed to replace 13-year-old fan from same manufacturer. This had the same dimensions as the old unit, so I was able to use the existing housing which made the install quick and easy. The noise level was much reduced. About one month later, the noise level increased significantly. It's actually louder than the 13-year-old fan was.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Bought Two I have two bathrooms that needed to have the exhaust fans replaced. I had the first one installed and the exhaust fan rattled so loudly that I had to have shims installed to cut down on the rattle. After the shims were installed it ran very quitely for a short time (1 week) and then started to rattle again, although not as loud as before. The rattling noise is very annoying. I am returning the second exaust fan, I am very disappointed in the rattling noise the fan generates when it is running but light works fine.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Basically a light that makes a humming noise The 50 cfm is very doubtful. This replaced a similar unit but the fan has no suction. It may be due to the impeller design that is open on top and bottom. Most impellers are closed on one side.
