Answer:
You really only need one wood support on the side that you are going to attach(screw) the fan to. Just scab a board on the one side and toe nail or screw it in place, then attach as per instructions.

Answer:
You need to use hanger arms that extend from the unit and hold it up. This method is similar to what I call a butterfly bolt.

If you can get into the attic, create a frame between the ceiling joists using a 2x4. Remember you have to frame it so that you can run an exhaust duct, On side should be enough, it has a nailing bracket on only one side. That's how I had to do mine and it works fine.
You can use metal framing brackets to hold the 2x4's if access is difficult.

you said update....You might be able to replace the fan assembly if it's from the same manufacturer. You simple take the old assembly out and put the new one in it's place. I wonder how the old one is held in place if there isn't any framing. Read Less

Answer:
If you can't get into the attic to frame, you would need to pass the boards up through the hole and try to scab on to an existing beam. If neither of these options are viable. There is no other option that to tear down the drywall.

What type of light bulbs can be used in this fan? I see the maximum wattage up to 100w but not the TYPE of bulbs that can be used. The light just burnt out with 3 months of installation and I would like to replace this with a bulb that can last a LONG time!

Answer:
I had difficulty installing a LED bulb because it's a little larger than incandescent bulbs. Bending the support in the lamp housing allowed enough space. A compact CFL may fit but not the large spiral ones. LED bulbs are affordable now (less than $2) so it's silly to buy anything else.

Answer:
Thank you for your question. The 100 Watt bulb is an incandescent. The unit is U.L approved for the incandescent. You could possibly use a fluorescent, and while their rating might be a lower wattage, check the package to see how it compares to regular incandescent. But the unit is NOT U.L approved for a different type of bulb, so we can ONLY recommend the incandescent. Thanks, again.

The 763RLN is being discontinued. A similar model is the 763N.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by nutone alwasys has a good fan for the money these fans are great for the price, the sonse are high but not really noise if you want real quite, than you will have to spend more money!!! March 29, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Replacement Fan The fan was for replacement of the same older type. The pricing was of good value. The metal housing did arrive with a slight bend. Was not a problem to bend back into position and did not effect the running or appearance of the fan. Solved a major problem of an older fan. March 8, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great buy. Works very well. Needed to replace fan/light in bathroom (fan had stopped working). Pretty much a spot-on well-functioning replacement fixture. Recommended. February 16, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by This fan is NOISY!!!!!!!!! Easy to install--Looks clean But....Noisy as heck!!!!! February 16, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy to install, works well with the drop ceiling and Regular Ceiling. I have installed these in both drop ceiling and regular ceiling and it work in both setting as long as you have support to mount the fan to in the drop ceiling. March 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by LED lamp compatable Unlike the special CFL bi-pin lamps in lighted fans that can only take a special and expensive CFL Lamp, these fans will take any of the smaller LED edison Based 110 volt screw in lamps to save money. The trim with lamp and fan fits older Nutone rough in boxes and can be swapped out with just a screw driver. February 16, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good Buy Instructions made fore easy installation the only part that I didn't like was the hose connector part needs some ribs for the hose clamp to grip, ended up duct taping hose on as clamp and hose would slip off March 1, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect Looks great... Love that it was deal of the day online! Half price! March 6, 2016
