Rather than having to crawl into my cramped, floorless, insulation-filled attic to rip out and completely replace my failed Nutone 695 bath exhaust fan, I stumbled across this excellent kit. I'm 60 years old and not in the best physical condition, so the option of doing an improvement/replacement from inside the bathroom really appealed to me.
I found that Home Depot's price was the best and, with its being so close by, I paid online and picked it up - all within a total of 4 hours! The installation itself went so smoothly and quickly that I could hardly believe it. Home repairs NEVER seem to go this well - EVER!! But it did, and the new, improved and quieter unit was running within 1 hour of returning home from my trip to the Depot!
The kit's noise level is way quieter than the original Nutone 695 - 3.0 somes vs. 6.0 somes. The included upscale-looking replacement appearance vent cover really dresses it up nicely. The kit is rated for 60 cfm air flow, compared with the original fan's rating of 70 cfm. The small loss of air flow was a minor negative when you stop to consider the savings, quietness and ease of replacement it affords.
If this kit is compatible with your bath exhaust fan (there are several), then consider this choice to be a bonafide no-brainer!!

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by canuk99 Good option for older weak fans
I checked the sound level with a meter and it was indeed much quieter, not as certain that the volume was increased. But nice to have the option instead of opening op the ceiling to fix a weak unit. Liked it some much I got a second one for the other floor.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by mas360 Excellent fan
This fan upgrade fits right in the original cut out. I did not have to access it from the attic. It took less than an hour to read instruction to remove old fan and install new one. The old fan was the typical propeller blade type and was quite noisy from day one. The upgrade replacement was a squirrel cage type and was much less noise when it spun. I do not have any way to measure the CFM but it seems to be moving more air. Overall I am very happy with it. Only time will tell how long it lasts though but for now I rate it 5 stars.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by DK20191 Fast replacement upgrade
No tools were required, except the wrench included.
This replacement/upgrade is much more quiet than the original and seems to move more air.
Also installed a mechanical timer wall switch, so now the fan can be turned on and forgotten!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Tinker This product is a breeze to assemble and install.
Product replaced my model 688 Broan installed 23 years prior. Product is quieter than the old and the price is fair

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Debbie A great upgrade for venting in our Bathroom
Compared to our former vent - this is so much better. We barely get steam on the mirror anymore and it is quiet sounding. We are not handy people when it comes to installations - but, we did install it our selves and it is working great. We only had one problem in the installation: the vent movable valve was hard to keep in place so we just removed it. We have not noticed any cold air coming down the vent and we thought that might happen since we live in Minnesota.
