Answer:
I wired my fan with a 12/2 wire. Code requires a dedicated circuit breaker. It is probably possible to wire with 14/2, but why not have the extra capacity of the 12/2.

I use the night light when I get up during the night and don't want to use the full light. It has its own switch to turn on. I also use it when I go out in the evening so my dog has some light.

How do you clean the grills of the exhaust fan without removing the fan from the ceiling?

Because this fan is in a damp environment lint becomes stuck to the grill. The grills do not snap out of the unit like other fans and you can’t clean them without removing the entire unit. We have tried vacuuming the grills but it does not work. What do you recommend?

Thank you for your question. Before you remove the grille, would it be possible to simply get a vacuum and try to gently sweep over it? This might remove most of the dust. If you need to remove the grille, it’s definitely a tricky removal. When you begin to remove the lens cover, please note that the glass can fall out of the frame once it’s lowered. Hold on to it carefully and remove it. Then remove the lens frame. At this point, there are two screws that will have to be removed. Carefully push the light socket through the hole and drop the reflector. You would then have to remove two more screws to drop the grille. This will all take a little time and effort and caution. If you want to speak with our Technical Support Department first, just dial 888-336-6151 and they can assist. Thanks. Read Less

My model 9965 (Heat-A-Ventlite) also has a night light (7w) in addition to main light (100w). Specifications listed here do not mention night light.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Exact replacement! This heat, light, vent fan arrived quickly. It took our handyman a bit to get it installed. He says it's easier to get it up in the ceiling while a house is being constructed but he did a beautiful job with the replacement. We've had some cool weather this spring so my husband has really enjoyed the heat. We had the previous unit for 40 years. I painted the grill cover when we redid the bath 13 years ago. It was still working good but the fan was getting noisy!! Very pleased with this replacement! May 19, 2016

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by 70 CFM CEILING EXHAUST FAN This product was supposed to be super-quiet when it actually sounded like an airplane. Very unhappy with product which I removed & replaced. May 31, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good Purchase This Nu-Tone Heater/Light/Vent is the newer version replacement of the one that was in use for the past 25 years. Like this product hope this one will last as long as the one being replaced. May 3, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by heater cuts off after minutes the ceiling installed unit has performed well for about 2 weeks. Put in to replace a 12 year old other brand and the nutone has been a disappointing heater. vent fan works okay but we need the heater in cold weather, the bathroom is in a basement. I am replacing with another brand after a few years of messing with this and having no permanent repair or fix to the nutone. Don't waste your time and money with this poorly engineered product. December 19, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Love the heater part The heater portion is great, lights are lights, the vent fan is noisier than I though it would be, seems to vibrate some. The aluminum cross piece on the light assy was broken, not a problem, but not a good weld. Over all we are very pleased with it. Our main reason for getting it was the heater and that works great. We also wanted a night light in the unit, which this one has. January 13, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Bad The nutone 9965 bathroom heater, light, vent, is an over seas piece of junk. It is not a direct replacement, the outer shell is one gauge thicker than a piece of paper, the heater fan assembly is partially plastic, and when you turn it on it runs for 15 seconds and quits. Total disappointment . March 1, 2016
