Is this hood vented or ventless.

When I ordered this online, I thought the specifications said vented. My contractor says it is a vented one.

Customer Reviews

Allure I Series 30 in. Convertible Range Hood in Biscuit is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 293.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Junk Range Hood Poorly mass produced range hood. If details matter to you avoid this hood. The par 20 sockets are spot welded too low putting the light bulb hanging out of the hood. The interior of this hood has way too many production holes punched out that bleed out air. The motor mount bracket is also spot welded at an angle that causes motor impeller wheel imbalance and noise above the typical expected rating. Watch out you will see these hoods offered cheap around certain sales Home Depot has. This model was used in a vented application, but inspecting the plastic ducting that is recirculated to the slots on the top I would expect it to be even noisier in an unvented application.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice Vent Hood - not perfect for non vented hood Bought this range hood for an older house without existing direct venting ducts. Planned to use it for ventless and the recommended installation guide I add a charcoal filter. HD had the filters there in stock on the shelf, I have checked at three different HD's in two cities and all had the filter. The range hood nor the add on charcoal filter had the required clips to hold the filter in place. The charcoal filter kit also instructs and pictures the clips but no clips in the filter or the range hood box. Employees at all three HDs have not been able to help. NUTONE brand filter add on should have the clips. NUTONE, whats the story?

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Natural Back Draft... There are three very bad design factors associated to this hood... 1. 9" fan, 7" circular vent or 9x3 rectangular vent... <> 9" circular air flow 2. 9" fan is mounted so there is a 1/2" gap between frame and fan edges. This creates a blow back zone that is noticeable on low and utterly unacceptable at high fan speeds. 3. Single fan and 2" gap between filters and fan. This allows for cavitation zone within the 9" space between the hood edge and the fan, which reinforces the DOWN DRAFT... So, if you are looking for a hood that vents the air to the OUTSIDE of your house, do not buy this hood. HTH

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Upgrade The range hood was easy to install. it matched up with existing screw holes that held the old hood in place. The wiring was a simple process. The stainless steel look improves the over all look of the kitchen. I gave it a 4 on features. because I installed LED lights and in the low setting the lights blink on and off. I can only use the LED lights on the high setting. That is ok, because we would not use the low setting for a night light or any other use. I noticed other reviewers mentioned only using the LED lights in the high setting.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Great Product if you dont actually use it! This hood I bought as an upgrade with my new range. It looks beautiful and the lighting is wonderful but that's it. I bought the charcoal filter pads thinking the unit was going to pull the smoke and steam through, filter it and push it out the top. Because of the design of this unit 90% of the smoke and steam gets pulled through around the lights thus filtering nothing. So the lights get covered in grime and i can only imagine what the inside is going to look like. But it was simple to install and looks nice, those are the only pros. Ohh and it is quiet. So if anyone gave this product a great review it is because they do not actually use their stove for cooking.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from quiet, efficient, and attractive We purchased this hood on sale, so it was considerably less expensive, but it is a very nice addition to our kitchen, very quiet and works well; even though ours is not vented to the outside and we had to substitute the carbon filters. I would suggest you investigate getting LED bulbs instead of the halogen floodlights the manufacturer recommends, our Home Depot salesman steered me in that direction and I am very glad that he did.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from This is an attractive style and well designed with two dim able lights and two speed fan. Install... This is an attractive style and well designed with two dim able lights and two speed fan. Installation was less than the best experience. The plastic damper did not reassemble without the need for sanding and shaving it to fit together. There is a problem with the lights. It appears to be an issue with bad contact between the socket and the halogen bulbs. One halogen bulb fits well and always works in either socket. Two other ones I purchased do not light in either socket unless one plays with them and moves them around to find a good contact. Then, over time from fan vibration, the light looses contact with the socket and ceases to work until you play with it again. Don't know whether this is a socket or a light bulb issue. Also, the product included a damper for a rectangular vent, but no damper was provided for a round vent. After going back to the store to purchase a damper for the round vent, I found no good instructions for how to place it in the installation.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Deal! Bought this on sale for about half the normal price. Had intended on purchasing a hood with electronic switches, but reconsidered and purchased this hood with simple mechanical rocker switches because they are more reliable, and because of the price drop. I would not have bought it at regular price as it was within a few dollars of the fancier models. The fan is very quite on the low setting, and not uncomfortably loud on the high fan speed setting. The lights are halogen and do produce heat, but the light color is pleasing and provides more than adequate lighting to the range top for cooking. This hood will not dim LEDs as the switch is not an LED dimmable switch, but you may be able to use an LED bulb on the high setting. They would run cooler. Installation was straightforward and easy enough. I was able to have it out of the box and installed in about a half hour. The quality is good for the most part, but the filters are a little flimsy. Also, they do not come with charcoal filters so you'll have to buy them if you plan to run a ductless system.
