This is both ventless and vented. I chose to go ventless to save the cabinet space above the hood.

This is perfect for you. I chose the ventless feature. (This hood is for both ventless and vented) Very powerful motor and the lighting is fantastic.

I purchased this hood to replace an old outdated hood that made lots of fan noise. The fan in this unit is so much quieter that I don't have to shut it off as soon as I finish cooking. Instead I can push the delay button, the fan will continue to run and clear the air, and then 10 minutes later, the fan will shut itself off. I chose to use LED flood lamps and the lighting works well. My gripe is that installation was not simple. I have duct-work at the back. The flapper door (to keep bugs and outside breezes from entering the hood) that you install at the back of the unit has a rectangular shape and the knockout at the rear of the hood has rounded corners. I had to file the rounded corners so the flapper assembly fit. The instructions are awful. Too bad that NuTone didn't spend another penny for an extra page or two and use that space to show improved drawings. I also think Home Depot is selling this unit at too high of a price. Based on my guess of how much it cost NuTone to produce the unit, Home Depot should have been able to sell the unit for half the price and still make a handsome profit.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not worth the money I chose this product because of the "powerful boost mode" 430 CFM. It was one of the more expensive units, but I figured the 430 CFM would be great. Opened the unit up to start the installation, and was very disappointed at the internal build quality. Flimsy, not well sealed, finish where the lights go in is poor (see pic), and I ended up sealing the bad internal joins with duct tape to seal it better. Also added a few layers of duct tape to the internal surfaces to dampen sound levels / stop reverberation. Product has about $50 worth of parts in it - very over priced for what it is. Also, the internal info plate only rates it for 300CFM on max (see pic) setting, so you have to wonder if the "boost" mode is safe to use all the time or if that will prematurely burn the fan motor out. Every time I look at the range hood I'm disappointed to see the gap where the light cover fails to properly meet up with the rest of the hood. Would I do it again? No.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Range Hood Very nice. Very quiet on the lower speeds. Seems to move a lot of air even on the lower speeds. The highest speed seems like something you would use infrequently as for some thing burnt on the stove. The high speed is powerful and fairly loud. I thought it seemed like the hood vibrated a lot when on the highest speed. It is a nice looking range hood as well.

Nicely designed unit, heavy to install you definitely need two or more to hold it in place while installing fasteners. Quiet at low speeds. I haven't had the auto on function trip yet as we turn this unit on as needed. Plenty of options for discharge. Lots of little holes in the casing that I covered with aluminum tape to keep grease from leaking out during operation. Much better unit that previous Broan/Nutone products I have seen and used.. I assume this is due to the acquisition of Venmar and their technology and that the fan design seems to be related.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Might want to consider a pro install Today I installed the NuTone Allure III and with some exceptions below, we love it. Cannot hear it on 1, a bit louder on 2, and so on. The boost is probably for when you burn something. I am still working on the outside venting. Had to go horizontal as I did not want to tackle a roof vent, and we had to sacrifice the top shelves in two cabinets. Small price to pay. This unit hangs from 4 screws. If your cabinets have a recessed bottom, you have to add a shim on both sides. If your cabinets have partical board shelves, as most do, this can be a challenge. Location of the screws is CRITICAL. After you get them in, and the unit up on them, getting them tight is also a challenge as they are not easy to reach. Design fault here that NuTone should address. This ended up taking over 6 hours.
