I replaced an exisitng Nutone fan/light. I found that the new one had a smaller housing (approx. 8.5 in x 8.5 in), so I had to add a 1/2 inch piece of wood to the support joist to take up some of the space. If your current housing is bigger, you may also have to fill in some gaps in the celing drywall. It took me about 4 hours to take out the old fan and add this one. Answer:
I replaced an existing one. The installation was difficult only due to the age of my house and the fact that the old vent went straight up and this one comes off of the side.

Answer:
You'll need an additonal switch and wiring as the fan and light are operated separately.

Answer:
Yes but you'll need an advanced multi-function switch, and the wiring must be 3-wire/2-phase & the dete's are tricky for an amateur. If you've already purchased, just b sure u review wiring w/an advanced level person & shut off ur breaker!

Answer:
No, it would not be a direct replacement. Additional wiring, cut out work, and other additional work may be required.

Answer:
Howdy T,
The short answer is; yes and no. Yes it's possible, but as it's designed No. The amount of time and money to engineer an adapter would not be cost or time effective. Your best option is to install and flush light fixture that resembles the look of the look of the one you asked about. Take a look at Home Depot.com flushmount light fixtures and you'll be happily suprised on the selection.

Rated 4.2 out of 5 by 23 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by VERY quiet, very powerful, great light Ceiling installs are never easy, but it is so nice if the parts are savvy-to get to that last step & have it all go in easy; this unit was just that. I got a great price on the daily deals offer. Suggest u lay out parts & write ur plan on any project like this (i forgot to put a wire EMT connector-u'll need one of these btw- before i fed my wire into the firebox; lucky me extra trip into attic & back down again...!) Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Stylish bath fan and light combination This bath fan/light combination is EnergyStar rated. It is stylish, quiet (1.5 sonnes) and provides sufficent light. 100 cfm air movement is nice. Too bad it has been discontinued. February 22, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by No support brackets available for this model. Be aware that this model does not come with support brackets. Nor is this model compatible with ANY support brackets per their customer support. I ordered two and hired an electrician to install...what a bust! As this was a replacement the little tabs didn't work. I paid for electricians to show up but they couldn't install! December 15, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent buy! This light and fan is the first step in a complete bathroom remodel - from the ugliest bath to a pretty hall bath for guests and family. It is just beautiful and very quiet. February 19, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good price, not too hard to install, design is lacking First the good. Got online for over 50% off list price. Fan is quiet and light is bright enough for our use. Although if it was the only light in the bathroom, I agree it would not be enough. The bad to me was the glass shade sits too low on the rod so that when entering the bathroom and turning on the light, I can see all the way up into the entire assembly. Wires, bulbs, screws, everything. Very unpleasant to look at. But after cutting a hole, mounting all the equipment and the such, can't really take it back. Needless to say, if I had paid full price, I would have been very upset. Now I'm just a little bummed. January 12, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by nice and quiet the biggest problem with the fan is the chrome ring on is already rusting, and it has only been up for a month!! September 5, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by all its purported to be! functional. nicely designed. does the job its meant to do! September 5, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Could Be Brighter The installation, according to my significant other who is handy, was "straight forward and easy." The light's design is understated and stylish. The florescent lights do not provide a "warm" color so the tile looks institutional. (We're considering upgrading the bulbs.) The light brightness is dim and fortunately there's a vanity light above the sink that provides more illumination. The fan motor sounds pleasant and is insignificant in an 8 X 12 bathroom.
