Customer Questions & Answers

does this fan have a light also

Asked by: Anonymous
No. It is a Vent and a Heater with a blower to blow the heat down.

Can you turn the fan and heater on separately (so you can run the exhaust fan but not the heat)?

Asked by: Anonymous
Yes, requires additional wiring and using two separate wall switches. Use a heavier duty 20 amp rated for heat switch.

Our existing fan/heater is hooked up to a thermostat and is vented from the top, it appears.

Is it possible to wire this model into the thermostat wiring and can this model be vented from the top, as it appears most of the models I've looked at appear to vent from the end, not the top? We like this model, does Nutone make a make a model similar to this one that vents from the top?
Asked by: George
simply put elbow on vent to vent upward.

HOW MANY AMPS DOES THIS PRODUCT NEED...15 OR 20

Asked by: Anonymous
It is code to load a 15amp circuit to 80% capacity. A 15 amp circuit can carry 1800 watts at 120volts. 80% of that number is 1440 watts. So if the fan/heater is on the circuit by itself with some other minor items you are good to go. Do not change the circuit breaker to 20amp unless you have #12 gauge wiring on that entire branch circuit.

I needed a heater with 15 amp. which this fan has. It works very well but is better suited for a smaller bathroom. It arrived in a sealed box but upon opening the hardware was missing (the screws). The plastic fitting for the exhaust was split in two and the side rails were bent. My electrician repaired it and installed it. Overall a good fan. It takes about 15 minutes to really warm up the bathroom on a cold morning. (My broom is about 150 sq ft)

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Could not install Bought one for replacing a vent and one to add a new vent to a bathroom. Waited for appointment. Electrician would not install bc he said there would have to be a dedicated circuit and he could not tell if we had one. So we had to return. Would have been nice to know beforehand.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A little loud It's a little louder than I hoped (heater) since I have a larger unit in my guest bathroom that is quieter. All and all it's worth the money and works real well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from no heat in bathroom i discovered that there was no heat coming from the vent in the floor of a bathroom. the HVAC company said that unless they were able to pull up the floor there was no easy solution to determine what the issue was. the Nutone heat a vent is a great solution as it will heat up a bathroom pretty quickly and is a very inexpensive option as a stop gap measure until we are ready to do a complete renovation of this bathroom. I actually purchased two units as i also had one installed in a bathroom in our basement that has a shower and gets used by guests who stay over. the units cost $120 a piece which I felt was a great value and an easy way to solve my problem.

I was trying to put it into an existing home. You got to be a pretty good Carpender to get it done. The product itself is outstanding.
