My existing vent/light (NuTone 8664RP) locked up & died. Looking for a quieter model that I can "simply" replace. I am the perfect unhandy handyman.

Answer:
You have 2 options.
You can either replace your fan with another 8664RP since they are still in production.
Your other option would be to replace the motor only. The part number is S97017706. It can be ordered at the special order desk at your local Home Depot Store or from our customer service department at 888-336-6146.

Hello and thank you for your question.
Your existing model # 8664RP is still available (see related products) ,technically you could purchase an identical unit and only swap the parts out.I know that motor can be basically be unplugged ,all together with the housing ,on most of these units.
Hope this helps.

Thank you for your question. The HD80LNT can have a compact flourescent installed, but I'm not certain what you are referring to about the vibration in the fan? Please contact our Technical support group at 888-336-6151. Thanks, again.

Hello yap, I’m Newf from the Home Depot’s how-to Community. Thank you for your question.
There should be no problem using a 23 watt, (100 watt equivalent), compact CFL in this fixture.
Many bathroom fans come from the factory with pin base CFL bulbs. Using a regular base bulb here should work just fine.
I hope this helps,
Newf.

Answer:
Jack,
The housing dimensions for the HD80NT fan are:
l x w x h
8" x 8-1/4" x 5-3/4"
That would be the size of the opening.

Rated 3.9 out of 5 by 21 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good fan Fan is quiet and works great. Very satisfied with purchase price and quality. Some difficulty with install because exhaust was on opposite side as old unit but overall product was good. July 21, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Heavy Duty and Works well This fan is small (i.e., 8" and fits into tight joice spacing) and provides good suction and adequate light. It takes a normal A19 incandescent/halogen/LED bulb easily found at local hardware stores. It is not a special order bulb. Performs as advertised. Compared to our original builder installed fan this unit is not noisy. The reviewers complainng about it being loud need to understand the stated rating(2.5 sones). This equals noise (i.e., 2.5 times nosier than a 1). If you want an ultra quiet unit pay more and buy one with a <1 sone rating. July 20, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by exhaust fan This fan works well. The instructions were easy to follow. Installation took about and hour or so. This fan is relatively quiet for its cfm rating. It does the job. I would purchase this product again and recommend it. This is the second time purchasing this product. The first time was for our first floor bathroom and this one is for our 2nd floor bathroom. The only additional part I had to purchase which wasn't included is a wire clamp nut that screws into the wiring plate on back of the unit to keep the wire from chaffing on the side of the hole for the wire to enter the unit. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great fan for a great price Very quiet easy install. aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa February 18, 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Nutone Heavy Duty 80 CFM not for shower applications 80 CFM is not enough flow to deal with steam from a single shower. It will work fine for a powder room where only odor is the concern. September 16, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by strong silent type powerful motor gives us the CFM we wanted, yet whisper quiet when it's running. September 23, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by worst thing I ever bought online Nutone HD80LNT is not what it claims to be. Way too noisy. Definitely louder than the 2.5 sones rating. To say it sounds like a freight train is just a tiny bit of exaggeration. The Nutone people told me to buy rubble pads to muffle the noise. For brand new vents, what a joke. I'd love to return both units but the cost to have them installed and taken down are more than two to three times the cost of both vents. I am stuck. I would suggest HomeDepot not to sell this model online anymore. October 23, 2012
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Powerful, but loud This is a powerful fan moving air readily in my 5x8 bathroom. No more steaming mirror! However, it is quite loud and mounting was awkward in an existing bathroom. Additional cross bracketing hardware would be a great install option, especially at this price point. I am happy with the fan but it gets an average rating because it was expensive for a loud fan with difficult install. July 8, 2013
