I had to look until I found a bath fan that would fit in the space I had between the ceiling and the floor above. Great product.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Bill51 Good product, not an easy install
The Nutone LPN80 appears to be a perfectly good product (I just installed it) that fits a disappearing niche, namely good-quality vent fans designed to be installed in ceilings with 2 X 4 joists in two-story homes. When I shopped the local "big box" stores, the few items that fit were all low-end and noisy!
I also learned that, in the long run, I would have been better off to remove a square panel of sheet rock large enough to allow easy access to the entire area, i.e., a cut out from mid-joist to mid-joist. That would enable MUCH easier removal of the old, defunct unit and a far less time consuming installation. As it is, I finished the vent fan installation with a couple of small corners of sheet rock cut out exposed. Thankfully, the ceiling in the powder room is due for a re-do this summer anyway!
That said, the NuTone LPN 80 has some nice design features. For example, it has a telescoping arm that fits in a track on the back side of the unit in order to reach and secure the unit to the joist adjacent to the one where the "ears" of the metal housing are secured. Slots are provided to allow screws or nails to be in place in advance so that the unit can be connected and "dropped in." Further, the unit is available for either 3" or 4" ducting. Connecting the electrical service and ducting are simple matters IF you cut a large enough opening in the ceiling for access. I struggled to get by with an opening barely large enough!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Savti7 This exhaust fan is very quiet!
We were restricted by size in purchasing a bathroom exhaust fan. This model was the only one that would meet our needs. We had it professionally installed by an electrician but I don't think that is necessary if you are moderately handy. So far the fan is doing its job. It is extremely quiet. We had to install it on the wall and it has a large footprint. We didn't care and just wanted something quiet and efficient. The price was a bit high and I found for less a few days later but by that time the HD delivery arrived. All in all we are very satisfied.

This fan is valued for it's quiet operation, one of the reasons I chose it. 1.1 sones. But the vent flap clatters around whenever a breeze goes by. Probably several sones... I'm going to try adding some stick-on weather gasket as soon as I can get a ladder up there again. I wish I'd known that before I installed it.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Michael I like this product. I had some issues getting into the wall space but once it was in there it works great.
The old unit was much smaller and I had to cut a larger area of the drywall to actually get the new fan in the wall. This has caused me to patch a section of the wall next to the unit. Other than this inconvenience I like the unit. It is quiet and moves a lot of air.
