Customer Questions & Answers

does the 130 cfm have 4 or 6 inch exsguast

Asked by: scooby
The Duct Connector is 6", but the unit comes with a 6" to 4" Duct Reducer that just snaps on. I used the reducer with a fairly long 4" duct, but still get great air movement. The manufacturer's shipping box suggests a 6" duct for "superior performance."

Is it normal for this fan to blow air out of 1 side of vent and suck air through the other vent??

Yes, it is.

I really like this fan, but the directions say not to install in wall ( at most at a 45 degree ) - Any idea why?

Asked by: whalerboy
Thanks for the question. The unit can be installed in a ceiling or in a 12/12 itch ceiling, NOT a wall. First, please note that this unit is U.L. tested. If U.L does not recommend it for a wall mount, we will not recommend or suggest it. If you review the Install Guide (page 2, under CAUTION) it will state the following: This product is designed for installation in ceilings up to a 12/12 pitch (45 degree angle). Duct connector must point up. DO NOT MOUNT THIS PRODUCT IN A WALL. It was suggested that the installation video shows the unit in a wall. It does not. The angle of the camera may look like a wall installation, but there are no wall installations being shown. If you have further questions and would like to speak with a person, dial 888-336-6151 and talk to our Technical Support Department. Thank you.

In October 2016 I purchased and installed a QT Series Quiet 130 CFM Ceiling Exhaust Bath Fan. It lasted only 3 months. There was no warning or noise, it just stopped working. I called the manufacture and they sent me a replacement fan without questions. I asked if they had problems with this fan and was told there were no issues. I installed the 2nd fan motor in January and it worked fine but for about 3 months. It quit working today. So it appears I'll be on the phone again after Easter weekend to see if I can resolve this matter. The darn thing cost over $130.00!!! When I replaced the original fan that was broken I had to make the ceiling access bigger to accommodate this fan so now I'm stuck with these dimensions. Or find a different brand and complete hours of reconstruction work to change the dimensions to accommodate a new fan. Frustrated!!!

Quiet, powerful and easy to install. This unit is replacing a smaller unit bought at HD several years ago. Connections were easy, air flow is fantastic and you can barely hear the motor spinning. No more foggy glass mirrors, less odors, perhaps even less mold! We'll see. Great unit, great price. A+

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Bath Fan! Nutone has great products! We have purchased similar products from this company in the past and have always been completely satisfied. We are currently remodeling an old home and have installed this fan in our new master bath. It is very quiet! Thanks Nutone!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very Good Fan This fan is very quiet and unless one of my kids takes a 15 min shower the mirror is clear of fog when we are done. It is a little tricky to install but I was able to do it in 2 hours. This fan replaced on old 4 inch fan and it does a much better job.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Service Issues Nice and quiet and relatively easy to install. Only issue is that the grille springs that came with the unit are too short which makes it difficult to install the grille assembly.. Longer springs are available if you contact customer service.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A worthwhile upgrade I bought this 130 CFM direct from the store for a small bathroom, probably overkill, but there weren't any 110 CFM units in stock, only through the mail. The 130 has made a tremendous difference in the bathroom's moisture problem. The original 60 year old, 4-inch fan was just not capable of venting moisture quickly, leading to the usual problems in the long run. Even after a long shower, with the 130 the walls are dry, and pretty much all the moist air is gone within 10 minutes after a shower. The unit is very quiet, so you can leave it on as long as necessary without any irritating, high-pitched fan noise. The installation instructions make it look fairly straightforward, but since I didn't have any experience with electrical hookup or cutting up ceilings, I tried to hire a handyman to install it. Bad idea. I had one no-show; one showed up, gave an estimate and a return date, then didn't show; and a third who started the job, said he needed to buy some 2x6 to mount it properly, said he'd be back the next day, then sent me an email late that night to say he didn't have the experience to finish the job! The good news is, I then used the Home Depot installation service, and got an electrician who knocked out two or three of these jobs a week. He ran into a few obstacles with installation, but just kept going, and finished in about an hour. I wasn't aware of the installation service when I bought the unit, or I would have used that first.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from fans work well; seems fair price for the nice quality I bought two of these fans, one for a bathroom with mold starting. We had the walls cleaned and painted and fan installed. In that bathroom it's very quiet--a big difference from the previous ineffective fan. In the smaller guest bathroom, where we had the second fan installed, it's louder, although not a problem. It's about the same loudness as the ineffective fan it replaced, but takes out shower moisture so much better. The sound might have something to do with the length of the duct work in the attic in that bathroom versus the quieter bathroom. Overall, we're happy with this purchase.
