I am leaving this review because I like and appreciate when other people leave reviews. It helps me make decisions and save money.
I purchased this fan on sale for about half the list because the housing was dented; this was an easy fix and did not affect operation nor did it affect sound level. For this price it was well worth it.
This fan has the options of three switches, one for the night light, one for the light, and one for the fan. You might want to wire this fan with 3 separate switches.
Consider this: this fan operates at 130cfm and I think it’s accurate. The sones level is advertised at 1.5, however, in my opinion, I think it’s a little louder. When you turn it on you definitely won’t declare that it’s hardly noticeable. It’s not loud and obnoxious but its not quiet operating either. When showering you probably wont notice it. I just expected 1.5 sones to be a little more subtle. Definitely not quiet.
I installed this unit directly over my shower so I could have a separate light and for the fan. This unit definitely removes the steam build up so much so that I may need to reconsider how this is wired.
I wired the fan and light together because I have a vanity light over the sink and I only have 2 switches. I will most likely wire the fan separate now because I have discovered that in the winter operating the fan will remove all the heat while taking a shower.
I personally like taking hot showers in the winter and with this fan on that luxury is eliminated. In the summer it may work out just fine. I will have to wire the vanity light and this main light together, I guess. The night lite could be wired to a switch or just a constant hot. I wired mine constant. Yes it’s on all day and night but is only 4 watts and surprisingly bright, would be better if I had 4 switches. I’ve just been in the stupid attic so many times, I’m just plain tired.
It’s no easy task adding switches to a wall and it’s no easy task installing this unit in your ceiling.
I had to close-in my existing cut-out and cut a new hole for this unit. The unit is made for new construction which you will discover after you cut out the whole. The bottom of the housing has a lip preventing you from lowering it from above. The mounting plate on the front is much wider which prevents you from lifting it into place.
If you are real good you can make the cut-out to fit the housing exactly but cut in a slit on the mounting plate side so you can lift the housing into place. You’ll need two people. One will hold unit in place from bottom while the other secures it into place. I used 1.5 inch screws not nails.
I actually cut out a little wider on one side as well as the back and then added a small piece of drywall, mud, and tape to finish off. You cannot tell the difference. My unit is solid.
I also had to stack and secure one 2x4 on top of my truss in the attic because the mounting plate is meant for a 2x6, you’ll see when attempting to mount. You’ll need to do this for a solid install.
The directions are not designed for the do-it-yourselfer so think it through first. I’ve never installed one of these before and I did just fine but I’m no dummy either. I would not recommend a handy man either. I don’t know any that would actually do the job I did as good as I did it so beware of those.
Good unit? Yes, for half the listed here, can’t be beat.
Easy install? Not really, but it can be done with some good prep.
Instructions included? Yes but worthless.
Quiet? Not really, but not loud either.
Does it remove moisture, steam, and unwanted odors? Without a doubt!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Y2013 Pretty good fan power
This fan seems pretty powerful. With my bathroom door closed and the fan on, I can feel the cold air outside the bathroom being pulled in from under the door.....fan off, that air doesn't come in. So, it pulls the air out pretty good. It's not silent, but it is fairly quiet and non annoying. The night light is the best....it's great not to have to turn on the bright light to use the bathroom in the middle of the night and not have to take up space in a plug with a regular night light. Best of all, it takes a regular night light bulb, and seems way brighter. Even the main light on the fan is pretty bright.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Bodean Actually is as quiet as advertised!!
I purchased this product from HD on-line for my sister for about 1/2 the price she was prepared to pay. She had identified the product requirements, and had then found this particular model via search engine at other on-line retailers at a substantially higher price.
Installation was very easy only requiring a simple rectangular hole in the ceiling, and wiring was a snap. The unit is actually VERY quiet when the exhaust fan is running, and it moves a lot of air. Very nice that the unit included the fluorescent bulbs which cast a very bright, white light. Very satisfied with this purchase for the price we paid.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by bbarber Quiet and bright
This was easy to install, it is quiet for a fan this size, the two bulbs put out alot of light so you're not having to turn on all the lights in the bathroom. extracts the air in bathroom 20 x 10 so ordors do not build up.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Tony2246 Fairly easy to install from the attic and bathroom
I think the design for the most part is good. However, like one of the previous posts stated it is not as snug to the ceiling as I would like. It took about three hours from start to finish. I had to remove the old fan and make a wider opening for this one. I replaced a 50 CFM with this 130 CFM so I am hoping to see a difference. I used the optional 4" vent (since that was already there) vs. the 6" vent. I hope that doesn't reduce the efficiency.
