Installing

we are installing this ceiling exhaust fan in an older home that never had a fan before. what other items will we need to vent it in the attic and out of the house?
Asked by: Anonymous
You will need to buy a Dryer Venting kit so that you can get it outside. Look to see that the Damper in the fan or kit so that you don't get a backdraft. Also, make sure you have caulking material for around the outside for the vent as well as inside on the Wall to keep a tight seal. Spring clamps are also good to attach the venting material to the fan and exhaust vent. Of course, Hammer, Screwdriver, saw, etc will be needed to install, but just 2 wood screws held it well to the Joist and are just loose enough so that if I want to remove it, it will slide off.

Is this fan suitable for a 32 sq. ft. area? This is for a Full Bathroom with shower.

The shower in this bathroom is used only once daily. The question is to find out if the fan is ok specifically for that size area, or is 110 CFM too much for 32 sq. ft.? Thank you!
Asked by: HDepotted
Thank you for your question about the NuTone model, QTREN110. A 32 square feet bathroom would not require a fan with 110 CFM. You would probably have sufficient air removal with 80 CFM. However, there’s a shower in this room, and since this unit is Energy Star rated, it operates at a very quite level. I would go for it! If you have further questions, just dial 888-336-3948 and our Customer Service Department will be happy to assist. Thanks, again.

Replacement for QT-110-B

I have a QT-110-B that's starting to vibrate and flap a bit. I've cleaned the fan but it still has a vibration and rattles the cage. Will this fan fit in the qt-110-B housing and is it wired with the same two-prong cord?
Asked by: LazyBones
The QT110-B is an older unit, but we still have replacement parts for it. If you are looking to replace just the ‘guts’ (motor and wheel), then you will have to get the correct replacement motor assembly. The QTREN110 used different parts and they will not mount the same in the housing. If you’d like to order parts, just dial 888-336-3948 and our Customer Service Department can assist you. Thanks.

QTR Series Quiet 110 CFM Ceiling Exhaust Bath Fan, ENERGY STAR Qualified is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 21.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product My wife wanted a quiet fan and after research I select this fan. It is taller than many so it may not fit all spaces, but other than that it was straight forward to install. My satisfaction came when my wife told me the fan wasn't working. I made her stand under it while I turned it on and off and only then did she detect the quiet sound. She was pleased with the fan and me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quiet, effective and energy efficient I ihave a 65 sq.ft. bathroom with a shower that gets plenty of use from my family of 5. The 14 year old 80 cfm I had installed when I got the house recently died. I then purchased the QTREN080 ...Identical in every way except it moves 80 cfm instead of 110 cfm. The bathroom mirror was still fogging up with the 80 cfm so I retuned and purchased the 110cfm instead am glad I did.. Quiet, effective and energy efficient :-) & I wish this fan was also inexpensive and my wife and daughters all like the new fan.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lives up to its name. We use to have a previous model by Nu-tone which isn't made anymore but were recommended this model and it works perfectly. It's silent thus creates a soothing environment in the bathroom.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from AWESOME! and SILENT! Our house was built in 1955 and has windows in the bathroom, so no fans. I HATE bath fans. I cannot stand the noise and also cannot stand when they are on the same switch as the light. I do not want to listen to one as I do my make up or after I am in the shower. So I was VERY picky about the one we were going to install. We started getting pealing paint in our shower stall... so I felt we HAD to put one in. This one is on its own switch, so I do not have to have it on when the light is on. It is SILENT! That means a lot coming from me.... because I NEVER wanted one. My electrician (I work in property management and have vendors that are very honest with me) said do not spend less than $100 on one or you will hate it. He said you will think you are saving money, but the thing will rattle and always bother you. So I chose this one and even he was impressed at the capacity to move the air and the lack of noise it made. Very sleek cover and it seems like that will also be easy to clean. My advice is, don't be cheap and pop for one under $100... by this one and you will not regret it!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Noise Level Higher Than Expected This fan replaced a 15 year old Nutone fan. I expected it to be quieter than the old fan because of the specs. The fan noise is lower but there is a constant rattle that is louder than the old fan. It was installed by a licensed electrician.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what you need for your bathroom I wish I didn't wait so long. Our 8 x 8 bathroom would turn into a sauna during a shower, the ceiling was wet, the walls were wet, even the sink was wet. Finally decided to install a fan, this fan had very positive reviews, so I went with it. I couldn't be happier, you can't hear the fan motor when the shower is running and , most importantly, the bathroom is as dry after your shower as it was when you started. I recommend taping around the plastic, snap in damper for a better seal.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice fan The unit required little assembly and was easy to install despite the cramped space available.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice & Quiet We bought this as a replacement for a much smaller and noisier vent fan. Installation was easy (Me not being a Do-It-Yourself) with just a few hitches from the previous install location. Instructions were straight forward and complete. Now we can take our hot showers and leave the hairdryer for the hair, not the mirror. Does a great job, so clear by 1 minute after shower.
