Im limited on space. Could I go from 6 to 4in. And could it be flex hose? Thanks

Asked by: Au13au
You can use a flex hose (use the aluminum ones: they're more durable), and 6-to-4 reducers for bath exhaust fans are fairly common. For a kitchen range hood, I wouldn't go smaller than 6 inches.

Can PC duct be used? Shouldn't duct be insulated If it goes thru cold space? wouldn't insulated metal thru cold space condensate

Asked by: B450
If you are referring to PVC pipe, we would not recommend that for duct. Condensation could form on PVC pipe as well. You can still insulate metal. If you would like some suggestions on the installation of the pipe, call our Technical Support Department at 888-336-6151. Thank you.

Only suggestion, manufacturer should provide a 6inch to 4in converter for those replacement installs when back then everything was 4inch. Purchaser will need to get a 6inch to 4inch converter if their present exhaust fan is 4inch.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Extremely disappointed in the noise level of the fan. ... Extremely disappointed in the noise level of the fan. It is NOT super quiet (.3) like the specs indicated. For $300+, I definitely expected better. It is louder than the 30-year-old, malfunctioning one I just replaced. So far, not too impressed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from More than I needed Returned to HD Ok, I ordered this for a new bathroom going into the laundry room. This is the cadillac of fans! When my electrician saw it he was surprised at all the bells and whisltes on it. Thank goodness Home Depot has an excellent return policy. When I found out I needed 3 wal switches for this fan I promply returned it and ordered a 2 speed Air King w/humidistat also from Home Depot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far I am very pleased I have only had the use of this for 3 days, but it is a vast improvement over my last bathroom fan. It's a good brand and seems to offer the same options as a much more expensive one. It is quiet, and the lights are great. I had it professionally installed. At this point I cannot comment about much else.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good quality bathroom fan The product is good quality. Fan runs very quiet. Instructions for installation were a little vague. If this is existing construction cutting the hole for installation was a little tricky. Wiring instructions were not very clear. Don't do yourself if you dont have some electrical background.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Expensive, and maybe worth it I'm sure this is an excellent fan, but its operation instructions are a bit hard to decipher. I'm not sure the world needs a bath exhaust fan that has adjustable settings for fan strength, how long the fan runs, and at what humidity it activates. With so many variables, it's a little difficult to determine if the settings are right. Installation was straight-forward and simple, with no surprises. It's a pricey item for a bath exhaust fan, but it is very quiet, even at full speed.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not Worth The $$$ This fan was painful. There were no switches included nor did the installation instructions include information on which kind to purchase in order for the fan to operate properly. I had to call Nutone customer service twice in order to find out what part/parts to buy. Also, it has a delay start. Most fans start immediately, not this one. It starts a few seconds after turning it on. Don't know whether or not the contractor installed it correctly, and don't know if the humidity sensor works, but at this point, I'm just going to put up with it. The only plus is that it looks good Had I known it was going to be such a colossal pain-in-the-neck, I would have returned it.. I have however, learned a valuable lesson....keep it simple! They say you get what you pay for; NOT ALWAYS!!
