can you operate the light without the fan being on

Asked by: handyman
Yes, the fan and light can we wired so that each can be controlled separately. The preferred method is to use 14-3 wire between a two-gang switch box and the exhaust fan/light.

tried to twist the cover off to clean

how do i get the cover off to clean inside
Asked by: Bunny
Looking up at the fixture, rotate the glass counter clockwise until it stops (it may take some force to get it started). When it hits the stop, push upwards a bit and rotate counter clockwise until the glass comes free. Be sure to support it at this point! The fixture has three metal studs onto which the glass threads. The glass has 'stops' built in to keep it from spinning off should it somehow vibrate loose. To replace, reverse the instructions above. Tighten the glass by turning it clockwise. Don't over tighten it so that it's easier to loosen next time. We have two of these fixtures and I recently installed LED lamps in both.

Oil Rubbed Bronze?

Doesn't appear the oil rubbed bronze style is available on web site. Is it available still?
Asked by: DB
Unfortunately, we no longer carry stock in the oil rubbed bronze design. Colors still available for this model are white and antique brass.

Decorative Antique Brass Dome 100 CFM Ceiling Exhaust Bath Fan is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Garbage The color is lighter than the stereotypical standard (though I addressed that with spray paint), the fan blade rattles, the globe only twists on and off 1" turn that is so stiff it wrenches the fan box, and it isn't nearly powerful enough - for a tiny bathroom where I only need a unit of 53 cfm, this 100 cfm doesn't begin to vent out the steam. Total junk.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from nice fan...color is not this dark though.... I purchased this fan due to the color that is advertised BUT in reality the color is much lighter...like the cheesy plain brass fixtures. I will be applying some color to the decorative rim in order to get this to match as it was installed before I got to see the actual color.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice looking, installation somewhat challenging The quality of the primary box structure is "okay" - like most sheet metal items, it can flex and make things difficult to fit (one removes the motor and motor base before installing the box, then must re-install when the box is in the ceiling). The supplied screws used to mount the bracket for the light were, well, rubbish. They stripped before 'biting' in the pre-drilled (but not tapped) holes - I just used sheet metal screws I had on hand. Installation requires access to the top of the unit - in my case, in the attic amongst the blown-in insulation. If I were doing it over, I would attach wooden tabs around the outside of the box to space it properly in the sheetrock ceiling. Not required, but would have made locating the mounting holes in the rafters much easier. The fan is quite powerful and not overly noisy. The light kit is nice (other than the screws noted above) and mounts easily. The glass shade "screws" onto pins on the light base - much nice than the setscrew technique. I would consider this unit when it comes time to replace our other vent fan.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great fan, great value. I got this fan because it looked nice and it had a good CFM rating. I was a little concerned about the noise rating, but after I installed it, I was surprised at how quiet it actually was. When the shower is running, it's inaudible.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Reasonably quiet attractive fan We purchased this fan for a bath remodel. As others have said, it cannot be installed without access from above or removing the ceiling around it. Another installation note- this is a higher capacity fan and requires 4" ductwork; many existing systems will have 3". It is fairly simple to install with several openings for electric. Once the ceiling is painted, the fan installs easily into the box, and the light mounts to the fan. It operates at a reasonably quiet noise level. One of the nice things is how it doesn't look like the typical bath fan.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Winner!!! This product was not only received on a timely basis, the product was better than the other 18 units that I researched. The motor noise is extremely low and any shower steam is completely evacuated in my bathroon which approximately 75 sq. ft. in size and the price is reasonable. I would reccomend it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from This unit is attractive and quiet I'm impressed with the performance of this product. You hardly notice its running with the fan on. The threaded center bolt provided with assembly was not of correct size. One provided was 3/4 inch to short. I had to return to store and purchase a longer one so that I could finish installation. One final note; The globe/glass does not secure into position. It just twist on and off. I'm concerned about this thing twisting off over time due to vibration.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from very nice It looks great and works great. I would recommend it. It's so nice to have extra light in the bathroom and a fan that works good and isn't so noisy as the old one! It didn't have the size in the description and it was 9" x 9-1/4 so we had to make the hole larger, but that was pretty simple.
