Answer:
I used a sander with low-grit sandpaper on the doors and cabinets on my oak... but, it isn't necessary. The paint sticks quite well with just a light hand sanding too. But, using a varnish remover is definitely not necessary.

Answer:
You will not need to remove the existing finish when using Nuvo. You only need to lightly sand the cabinet surfaces with a #600 grit sandpaper and use Windex to remove the sanding dust. After the cabinets have dried, you can go ahead and apply Nuvo as directed.

I have particle board laminate cabinets in my kitchen and am looking to paint over them with this paint...some suggest light sanding but can you do that to my kind of cabinets? I am thinking that is only needed for the actual wood cabinets. Mine are very glossy. Not sure what to do.

Use the Rust-Oleum liquid deglosser. Just follow the directions on the container.
You'll be fine.

Answer:
A light sanding for varnished/stained wood for sure. For other surfaces, I am thinking that you should "rough the surface up" with sandpaper to help the paint adhere to the surface.

Answer:
Particle board cabinets would still need to be sanded. You can use the de-glosser on your laminate cabinets, but you will need to follow with a light sanding using a #600 grit sandpaper and then follow with a damp rag and Windex to remove all standing dust and de-glosser residue.

Answer:
Thank you for your inquiry. If there is a plastic coating over your cabinets, we would recommend using a Plastic Primer over your cabinets before applying the Nuvo Cabinet Paint. Also, if you would like to paint directly on wood, we recommend using an oil based primer first, then you may paint with the Nuvo Cabinet Paint.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Simply incredible. So easy and it goes a long way. The kit came with two cans and we never even opened the second one. September 11, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by DURABLE & EASY!!! This stuff is great. I had quite a few cabinets to paint, the kit came with two little cans of paint, I honestly didn't think there would be enough. I did two coats on all of my cabinets without even opening the second can. I have to do a little touching up but I will only need a little amount for that from the second can. This paint dried very quickly. I finished my project in one day. This stuff is great. Also while moving the cabinets into our house one of the drawers fell out and didn't knick or scratch the paint. This product is deff worth every penny. You don't have to sand or prep. September 27, 2016

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by 2 Q.T Cocoa Cabinet Paint Kit Great paint very happy with my kitchen and bathroom cabinets September 27, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Turned out awesome! The pre-work was easy, the paint went on seamlessly! I am very pleased with how my cabinets turned out... plus, there was enough to cover my entire kitchen and two bathrooms. My cabinets look updated and new.... love this stuff! March 29, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by This stuff is the real deal!! We were skeptical at first but we figured, for the money, it was worth trying. Wow! What a difference. We bought 2 kits but really only needed a little over 1 kit (and we were painting over white). We did 2 coats but really could have gotten by with one. If you take your time and do it right (sand and clean well) you will have brand new looking cabinets!! August 20, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Will never buy any other brand of paint! This is the best paint I have ever used! Easiest way to paint old cabinets that are worn and may have an old finish on parts of itl. It went on great! Small can goes A LONG WAY! My cabinets look new. Love this paint! January 28, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good cabinet paint Nuvo cabinet paint worked well on my 28 year old bathroom cabinet. The paint covered as expected. I've painted several cabinets in the past and always coat 3-4 times. Do prime your cabinets before painting with a tinted primer. Cure time was fast and the paint seems to be durable.
