I haven't used these yet...not quite time, but they look like they will do the trick. A little larger than I thought they would be but that is not a bad thing. Sturdy fabric.

I bought several of these to cover my fairy houses. I have too many to fit in the shed. These work great as they protect the houses but still let the plants get water.

These tents offer peace of mind with the New England winters, especially after last year's. I ordered 2 more of these to ensure that my small ornamental Japanese maple would be safe this winter(last year it lost branches on one side and looks like it's dancing to one side), and a 24" size for an azalea plant. Everyone is snug for the winter. Word to the wise: give yourself time to tie the ties inside the tent to secure the spines. Make sure to install when the ground is still soft. The stakes can break if you use any hammering tool and they go in very easily if installed in soft mulch.

I bought several sizes of these NuVue plant “tents” for winter-long protection for our hydrangea plants that haven’t bloomed the last 2-3 years. The design works pretty well. I am very happy with them so far, but with some work-arounds for the same problems that others mentioned (the stakes & ties). The only exception I DO NOT RECOMMEND THE 54” SIZE. (see below)
After 3 mo they have survived torrential rains, flooding, light snow (only 4-5 inches at one time), sustained winds of 25-35mph and gusts to 50-60 mph. None of them have blown away. The light snow slid off the tent within a day or so. No big snows yet this winter. After 2 weeks of 50-70 degree temps, I finally removed several of the tents. The plants not only survived but thrived! Some spring Hyacinths were ready to bloom, and 2-3 times the size of others that were unprotected. Most of the Hydrangea buds that I’m trying to save are intact and sprouting some green. The tents should be easy to set back out quickly when the inevitable late frost/freeze threatens.
I wish that Nuvue would offer some different shapes that are wider than they are tall. Currently every cover offered is much taller than the width. HINTS: To avoid blowing away or collapsing, get the material as taut as possible to the poles and snug to the ground. Tie all the inside ties (line the poles up with the seams), use at least 10” stakes, and place the stakes out from the tent as far as possible without ripping off the loop (a fine line). Don’t tie in bows, just leave a bit of slack and tie double or triple knots. The tents fold fine for storage with the knots tied. To keep tents flat use cheap clothespins from the dollar store instead of the outside ties. If ties break take a thick cable-tie and thread it through the material.
PROS: Dome-shaped design, easy setup, material breathable yet tough enough to withstand the elements, re-usable, folds flat for storage. Safe for plants even in 70 degree weather – great for both winter and late fall / early spring frost/freeze.
STAKES– too short, cheap plastic & many came with NONE, despite the attached cover claimed 4 stakes are included! Might get you by a season or two. Instead, at discount store buy 10” or 12” metal or plastic stakes for about 87 cents each. even cheaper online. The metal ones last forever but the plastic have the ‘X’ shape that’s better in loose or swampy soil.
TIES (for the poles) –too short & flimsy.
AVOID THE 54" TALL COVERS - 1) height & width blocked our windows 2) different design than the others. No little “pouch” for the poles to fit into the bottom corners, just hole with a little rubber gasket. The tent collapsed and the wind blew it sideways & crooked. The poles slipped thru the gaskets & buried themselves 4-5” into the ground. That ripped out the tie at the top which joins the poles into an “X”, so the tent material slouched down – the tent lost tension and all its integrity. Switched the 42” size which wasn’t wide enough & had to tie up the branches. ONLY HAD THIS PROBLEM WITH 54" SIZE. All others work great!

Purchased 2 of these online right before Christmas. My wife had threatened to divorce me if I used the make shift shrub cover i threw together last minute last winter right before all the snow we got in NYC. A week ago we got slammed with over 2 feet of snow. I put them over the shrubs the night before and so far so good. They held up in place. Due to their shape the snow just slides off and builds up around them preventing the shrubs from being crushed. 2 neighbors even commented on how much they liked them and I have to admit they are a lot nicer looking than last years invention. My only recommendation is don't wait until the last minute to use them. I did and the ground was frozen so when i was trying to drive the plastic stakes into the ground i broke the tops of two stakes. Wasn't a big problem to remedy but just a bone head move on my part that you could avoid. Otherwise they seem to be working great! I'll know for sure in the spring when I take them off.

Perfect and easy way to protect shrubs and seedlings. Very well constructed. Dome shape allows snow to slid off and not accumulate on your vulnerable plants. I bought these to protect 3 seedling Giant Arborvitae. I could not be happier. They are like little dome tents and secure very easily with included stakes. Very affordable.
