Limitations are shorter runs (less than 12" will not have the capability of big changes of direction. To answer your question consider a straight through penetration with no cuts - the inside diffuser will be mounted flush to the ceiling and the outside dome mount can be mounted to the roof deck in a position that will allow a straight through installation of the tube. I believe you can purchase a flush mount outside roof adapter that will work as well. Talk to the ODL help desk - I found them very insightful Read Less

Answer:
Depending on the pitch of your roof you should be able to adjust the tubing angle by rotating the tubing at the joints. If your ceiling pitch matches the roof pitch only minor adjustment will be needed (other than cutting to shorten the tube run)

Answer:
Yes and no. The light that this unit provides is diffused. Depending upon the location of the unit relative to the area to be illuminated, changing the angle of the trim may not be of any benefit. But if you do need the trim to be flat, then there's no way around building a table of some sort to level it out...

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 31 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice product Had no issues installing it; would give 5 stars but no hardware was in box; had to use my own. Not a big deal; took about an hour to install. The trick I used to line up holes, I used my fiberglass rods, I marked the hole in bathroom ceiling and made a 3/8 hole in the center and pushed the fiberglass rods up until I hit the roof. Went into attic and drilled another 3/8 hole were the fiberglass rod was. Then made my 10" holes and put it all together. If you can't get into the crawl space; use a 5' or 6' flex bit that has a rigid shaft; it's what I have to do for our other bathroom since I don't fit in that area. August 23, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Incredible the difference it made. We have an older home and one of the bathrooms is in the middle of the house without a window, we decided to renovate the bathroom and wanted to add natural light. We put the 10 inch tube in and are amazed at the difference it has made. The installation was incredibly easy. A suggestion, if you can access your attic it is much easier to mark the roof and ceiling using a plumb line to ensure they line up perfectly. We were fortunate in our placement that we did not have to rotate the tubes. Awesome investment. June 2, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Solar Tube skylight Great product! Easy to install. Works wonderfully. August 16, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Let the sunshine in! This is the second of these that I have purchased. The price is very good and they work very nicely in bringing in light to the locations they are in. August 14, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent quality and end result (lighting a windowless hallway) I was looking for an economical small solar tube type skylight for a windowless hallway. I've never lived in a place that had this style skylight much less installed one so I was wary of spending for a high end unit. The unit was fairly easy to install - a little tricky to adjust for a slight angle off completely vertical but the instructions were adequate for the task. The ODL help desk was great. I wanted some insight because I live in an old plaster and lathe Craftsman style house and the instructions were geared for sheetrock walls and ceilings. I would say start to finish took six hours including patching the boogered up ceiling plaster. If one was working with standard drywall construction and normal ceiling heights (mine was 18') one semi-handy person could do it in less than four hours. June 21, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by met my expectations Having a new roof installed so it would be a good time to put in 2 solar tubes. Roofer set flashings and I did the rest. Easy install. Great results. June 24, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Poor light diffusion The elbows that are automatically part of the tubing sounded like a good idea that would allow adjustment of the tubes in case the holes weren't aligned, but the seams in the flexible elbows at both ends diffuse the light with internal reflections before it gets to the ceiling. Then, the ceiling diffuser is recessed inside a ~1" thick rim that doesn't allow the light to flood across the nearby ceiling or widely on the area below--much like a recessed can light would. On a fall day, mounted on a south facing roof, it is hardly noticeable on the ceiling! There was an optional convex diffuser I ordered, but that was another joke. It only clips on the underlying installation rim after I removed the diffuser rim. This results in the loss of several layers of glass and the tighter fitting seal that helped insulate this tube from a natural chimney effect, November 17, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by wish we got it sooner we are very happy with our sun tube, we have a kitchen in the center of our home, it was very dark. now it so light in there, we keep reaching for the light switch. I did have a contractor install, because of small area to work in.it took about two hours. highly recommend June 7, 2016
