The extension is reasonably easy to work with. Even though it naturally curls into a tube, the edges are not bonded together upon arrival making it easier to cut the sheet metal to length. Use tin snips or very heavy duty scissors to cut the sheet metal once you have measured and marked it. Once cut to length peal away the protective coating covering the adhesive strip and bond the edges together to make a tube. The resulting tube is narrower on one end and wider on the other. Slip the narrower end inside the upper piece of the existing light tube and the wider end over the lower piece of the existing light tube. Secure in place easily using the duct tape that is supplied.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by flagator Solar tube easy to install
Added 3 ODL solar tubes and added extension. Roofer installed flashing and first tube and cover and I installed the extensions and diffusers in rooms. What a difference it makes, one windowless bathroom and laundry and hallway and now we can see until the the sun goes down, and will be rewarded with energy savings. They were easy to install and directions were a no brainer. Installation and instructions were a breeze. Was quoted almost $2000 for 3 solar tube skylights and installation, I saved myself almost $1500 buying and installing item myself. Would highly recommend. Just hope I get my Al Gore carbon credits.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by zimm64 Great addition, but pricy
I bought this product as a way to improve a dark entry area. The skylight is a great improvement. The area is much lighter now than before. We were a bit disappointed at first, feeling that for the price it was not a huge difference. I contacted customer service, and after asking me several questions, they sent out a different diffuser at no cost to me, and improved the amount of lght substantially. I have a hip type roof, so I had to purchase several extenders due to the heighth of the attic, so this got a little pricey which I would say is the only drawback.

We had hail damage to our roof, and since we were getting the roof re-done, we wanted to put skylights in the Kitchen and Dining area (the previous owners had a sunroom added on the back of the house, and it hindered outside light from coming in the Kitchen window/Dining area patio doors). So, I purchased (2) 10" ODL Tubular skylights, and had them installed by the roofing contractor. One in the Kitchen, and one in the Dining area. We prepped the inside of the house in the attic, found the spot on the roof for them, they cut the holes, slipped in the flashing/tubes (which we cut to required size), and that was it !. Yes, it took some planning, and specific measuring, but it was relatively easy for all of us involved, and they look AMAZING ! What a difference ! in terms of sunlight now streaming into both rooms. We are 100% satisfied !

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by WeekendWarrior I can't believe the amount of light it brings in!
I have installed two 14" ODL Tubular Skylights in my hallway. We have a split level with a center all that runs between the bedrooms and bath and there is no window. We tend to keep the bedroom doors closed so there was no light in the hallway. Even during the day you needed to turn on the light fixture to find your way through the hall. I installed the tubular skylights, one at each of the hall and what a difference! We constantly go to turn off the light switch, but the lights aren't on! This was an easy project; I did both in the same day. I have had no leaking issues (I can't imagine how it could leak because of the design). The only problem is that now with so much light I realize that the carpet in our hallway is in bad shape. I guess that will be the next project.
Great product. Easy installation. I am so happy we did this!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by SilverGirl Just right for light
I ordered the 48" tube and cut it into a few pieces to extend 3 skylights. It was easy to cut and worked perfectly. This was a less expensive way to fit each skylight to the varied roof heights.
The ODL skylights were purchased in a Home Depot store 2 hours from my home, so I ordered the extension online. This product was delivered to my home in good condition, not dented or bent. It was easy to order online.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Butch62 Easy install, work great in cold Minnesota winters
Installed five of these in my home. No leaks, no water backup under shingles. These replaced 5 square window type skylights. These offer great light. Easy to retro roof windows that suffer from ice dams in winter. Seals are good via great instructions. No heat loss in winter. It's what did the trick to have free light, attractive, and saves heating costs when replacing other roof windows. No headaches. Great product.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Al Byneau Some Brilliance for your Buck~!
I purchaseed two of these during a re-roof, and was quite impressed with the cost, quality, and ease of installation! The instructions are clear and well written, and the kit required little effort to install. I think it took me longer to decide where to put them in- than to put them in~! You'll save on your electric bill, and those full moon nights will feel like you're sleeping under the stars!
A MUST BUY~!
