Why have the flush mounted blinds been discontinued? Has anyone used the raised frame blinds on a flush frame door?

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.6 out of 5 by 25 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy to install and better looking than expected These blinds were easy to install and work well. My doors are about 25 years old with multiple layers of paint, so a hammer and scraper were required to separate the mullions from the door and slide the brackets into place. They plastic frame is bright white, glossy, with a fake wood grain. Painting is required to make them look integrated into the door, which I have yet to do. I bought these at a big discount and after getting them installed I feel they are worth the full price. The only reason I didn't give it top score for Quality is that the handle used to raise/lower the blind feels cheap and doesn't seem like it would survive if used regularly. I rarely open these, so personally not worried. March 1, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Works great on front door! We got this for about a third of the original price on Home Depot's website, and it works perfectly on our front door that has frosted glass and wrought iron. No more shadows and awkward light coming in unless we want it. We also have the blind version on another door that is just partial, and that is great as well. January 21, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good when they work I purchased these for my back doors. I needed 4 and have ended up ordering 6. 2 of the original 4 I ordered had to be returned because of issues. 1 was missing a spring to hold the wire and the other didn't close properly. I'd say the quality is good and would be excellent if I didn't have the issues with the two. These work well and were easy to install. I love the compactness and shades more than the blind version. The shades look very classy and still let the light through while still giving you the privacy. They do look great and still would purchase them again, even with the issues. I hope they hold up well, only time will tell. May 13, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by An EXCELLENT product, easy to install and professional looking! These are shipped fully assembled and very easy for a DIYer to install. They fit over the existing trim molding around the french door window treatments by loosening the molding (held down with screws) then sliding the brackets in place, then tighten the screws again. Only hand tools are required. The result is beautiful and very professional looking. We can see into the backyard, light flows in, but the my husband's stupid basset hound cannot see inside the house which keeps her from whining when she is outside. Definately a win-win! Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Shade better than blind This window "treatment" was easy to install, looks good, and should be a good insulator. I used it to cover a door in a laundry room with a tall, but not full-length, window. Thus, the full version is longer than needed, but it helps insulate below the window too. In fact, I also added a sheet of foam insulation under that part too. I had to improvise somewhat because the door was not as assumed by the directions and hardware supplied, but it was relatively easy to do. It works great and looks much better than the original door. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Looks Good Product as advertised. The bottom of the shade was broken but not visible once I installed the shade. I didn't want to mess with the return. Shipment also didn't include instructions but I was able to find them online. Received side light shades from overstock (not sold by home depot) and condition was perfect and included instructions. Currently this shade is sold by overstock and is cheaper. I'm happy with the end result and the filtered sunlight it allows. March 20, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by fills a need perfectly easy to install, looks great, operates perfectly, no maintenance/cleaning of the shade. the first unit that was delivered was defective (probably was a 'return' because it came in a different box than the second one did). returned it to my local store (you have 90 days to return an internet order) and customer service took care of it, including making sure that I still got the sale price, and the new unit was delivered to my house four days later. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easily adapted to fit my doors The first shades I ordered did not fit. I called ODL and spoke with a Customer Service Rep who helped me with the return, then talked with me about using the Raised Frame unit on my doors that were actually designed for the flush mounted shades. The second set of shades were lightweight, easy to handle and I was able to install three of them in two hours - not bad considering I had to cut/install moulding pieces before the shades went on!
