I compared the new screen with the old screen I was replacing. The reinforcement on the replacement screen at the end is very skimpy. I doubt it it will last. I called ODL and they assured me they haven't had problems, so we will see

but this screen works just fine. It took two hits before the first one became unusable. Unfortunately, one of those hits broke the plastic pin in the end cap, and I did find that until I started doing the replacement. I ended up melting a 1/4X20 bolt into the end cap and filling around it with epoxy. That has held for a few months now. I am still trying to think of something to make the screen more visible without ruining its invisibility.

This took about 15 minutes to swap out the screen. Just make sure you are ordering the correct screen as there are short regular and tall versions that are slightly different.

I never liked the rolling screen doors for sliding patio doors because they just don't slide nice! I purchased an ODL retractable screen to replace my rolling screen and love it! It was easy to install although I did have a couple questions. I saw your videos on YouTube and they were a great help. The screen was fully installed in about an hour or a little more and works perfectly!
Another thing that bothers me about rolling screens is that they are always blocking your view through one of your windows whether open or closed. But not with a retractable screen! If you have the screen retracted you have a clear view through both windows. I love my retractable screen!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Shawn Great way to let the fresh air in
My wife had been bugging me about getting a screen door for our French Doors in the back. Talked to the sales rep at a local hardware store and he showed me the retractable screens. Loved them so much we put one on every door we have (3 single and 1 double). In the spring and fall, the doors get opened as soon as my wife wakes up and only get closed after she goes to bed. The greatest thing was the ability to use two of them to cover the French Doors. Easy to install. After the first one and thinking I knew better than the instructions it only took me about 15-20 minutes a door. Great product.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by AJB12 Installation can be tricky
This product isn't quite designed to install (easily) for my door frame and threshold; I have a short anodized aluminum threshold with a fractional inch drop to slightly tilted concrete. Not only that, but the trim didn't go all the way down to the concrete. So I had to machine a special shim to make it level and tie it to the door frame.
After that, it was pretty easy. Of course, it would have been easier if I had completely read the directions (or if there were better diagrams)
On the other hand, now that I've done it once, I ordered another couple for the French doors...
