Screen door easy and stylish. Exceptional for the people who only want to enter one door at a time. Although the installation of this door is not as easy as the instructions might have you believe. It took 5 hours to figure out and properly hang this. Have more than a screwdriver and a hacksaw ready. Also I wanted to let everyone know that if by chance you should walk into the closed screen door and pop the screen out you simply push the screen carefully towards the inside of the track then slowly close the door then reopen all the way til it clicks and viola it goes back into place. Whew!

Chuck the instructions and figure your own way to install if not inside the frame. I'm pretty handy but still took me 6 hours to figure out and install. Had to make significant changes to door frame to attain a mounting surface. Once installed i am pleased with the door.

I had my handyman install this screen for me. While I had no involvement I know the installation was not simple. He had to install boards at the top and threshold of the door (sorry, don't know the proper terminology), to anchor the screen tracks. He realized early in the process that he needed to install the lower board and later on in the process determined the upper board was need. This require 3 visits for installation. Bottom line, not a snap to install.
I am not using the door this screen was installed on for entry/exit. This screen was installed simply so we could open the door to facilitate air flow through the house. I think it looks great. In fact I am concerned that my dog is going to plow through this door as it is virtually invisible.
I cannot speak to the durability of this door under normal use, but it works for our needs.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Jake It would be nice if doors from this company actually fit the openings.
First, the door is made very well. Hence, the reason for my recommending the door for others. The problem is; they don't fit the door openings, per their stated size. I first purchased a 36 x 80 unit, it was actually 36 x 81 1/2. It was too tall. I bought this one because it was supposed to fit an in-swing patio door. It fits against the exterior frame of the door, requiring my building up the center vertical door support, and including a 1 1/4" x 2" fill piece along the top. Yes, this one is too short. Due to the fact that I an reasonably handy, it is not the end of the world. However, if you say it's a 80" door, deliver one. I would rate the door as excellent, if it fit the way it was designed.

You should know a couple of things about this pull-out door.
First, it's really made to go inside the casing of an existing door. When you pull the screen out, it goes on tracks and if those are mounted on the exterior of the door frame, there is nothing for the end of the screen to seal against; you will need to add a strip of wood vertically along the door casing to create a contact surface that seals the door.
Second, on this unit for in-swing doors, the placement of the bottom metal sill is critical. The entire door's placement depends on inserting a plastic tab into the track which fastens to the sill plate which fastens on the door sill. I had to use a vibrating saw and chisel to remove about 3/4" of my existing wood door sill to get the provided metal sill, bottom track and door mechanism lined up, and I had to remove and re-mount the roll-up door mechanism three times to get the relationship of the pieces just right.
Don't count on getting this done in an hour or two unless your door frame and casing configuration is just right. It's not a trivial installation unless you get lucky, and I've done more than my share of wood work. All told, I spent more than six hours installing this door.
As far as the screen, it's a nice piece, it pulls easily along the tracks, and the quality of the materials is good. I recommend having a few extra 3" x #8 deck screws handy to replace the mounting screws that come with the door, as I eventually rounded out the Philips heads on those screws by removing and reinstalling them. I also recommend having a variable speed drill with Philips head driver for this install, as it will reduce your wrist fatigue.

I just finished installing this door. If you follow the instructions it is quite easy to install. I used a drill press to make the 5/32 holes for the top and bottom track. Cutting the tracks and threshold plate is easier if you have access to a chop saw with a metal cutting blade. I surface installed this door to the brick molding. I wish ODL provided 2 Plastic caps you could push on to the end of the tracks to give it a more finished look. Ok, let the cool breezes blow.

not all doors are made the same. bought composite to build up the sill and the center of the door. My door looks like two doors but only one of the opens. had to saw some of the metal sill that was part of the orginal door. the sill plate the came with the screen door did not slide into the rail for my door. my sill had a slant to it. just put the sill plate in place and screwed in in. Directions were a little help but you will have to do a little work to a door like mine. other the that the lady of the house love it. took half a day to install once I got the composite stuff installed.
