Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best purchase in a long time!!!! I love the appearance of my screen because it is hidden out of sight when not in use. The only problem I had was that it is not actually made to fit the attrium style double doors that I have. I had to add a strip of wood to the center frame section of the outside of my door to allow for it to come out far enough for something to attach the screen frame to. It made it a bit more difficult for installation but only because it required more time to adjust my door frame to make it work. I plan to buy another one and make the other back door match. I have been telling everyone about my retractable screen. June 24, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very Pleased It was easy to order the right door and easy enough to install, it took my husband and I about an hour. Just read the instructions carefully and check the fit on your door before cutting. Apparently, if it's not installed square, it won't retract properly and the screen will have a ripple when extended. We love the idea that the screen door is not in the way when we don't need it. It makes a tight seal when in use and doesn't clutter up the front entry. Because we can now get a cross breeze, we know we'll save on the air conditioning! Perfect for Florida! January 4, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by This product installed with minimum skill and works as expected, The product installation guide is well done and easy to follow. The finish looks great and the product is very easy to use. January 31, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good solution for a unusual situation The one to two hour installation is is leading, as I was installing this into an older home, it presented challenges to square things up for proper operation. I needed to have assistance in the mounting more than was suggested because the screen is under the constant tension. After all was complete, I am satisfied witht the product, as it solved a problem where the normal screen door was unable to open fully because of the close location of the garage door track. Now entering and exiting the house into the garage is much easier. Overall rating is short term, as the installation is only a few days old, but so far, I am very pleased. July 29, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Instruction are AWFUL!!! This door is great once you get it installed. Of course, I recommend putting a ribbon or a piece of tape in the center of it, because you CANNOT see it once it's open and you are likely to try to walk right through it. Now, note I said "once you get it installed". The instructions on this thing were obviously written by an engineer. What a nightmare!!! We are very accomplished DIYers and it took both of us reading these instructions to get the darn door in properly. The pictures don't match the words half the time and the pictures themselves are a little... questionable. Read them VERY carefully... preferrably two or three times~ July 23, 2012
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by terrible instructions but product seems goos There are pros and cons. The instructions are not correct at step 7 . It states to measure for sill cover and subtract 1". I did just that and mine is now 1" short. The instructions are not the best at all. I have everything perfectly square and plumb and I still have wrinkles in the screen. I will have to contact ODL for a new sill since mine is 1" short. Also the bottom track sticks up 1". I would not have purchased if I knew that. I have seen others that only stick up 1/4". The retract mechanism seems to work good. Once installed the sill pitches toward the existing door which is not good for rain water April 13, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Product!!! We've had our original one at our beach house for 8 years. Our house is near the water, and it's built up high and much too windy for a regular screen door. Also, because it is retractable it doesn't hide our nice entry door. The only reason I'm replacing it at this point is that the magnets have rusted ( salt air) and no longer hold the door in strong winds, but the rest of it is still in perfect condition. As far as I can see, the magnets can't be replaced. I don't usually write reviews, but I felt compelled because this is such a great product, and easy to install. June 30, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Unsatisfactory We've owned this door for about 5 years and other than its novelty it has been a complete disappointment. The design requires that you contort your hand to open it because grabbing the handle "normally" forces it to skew sideways as the mechanism twists. We also have to hold ours when closing or else it slams shut. The screen is wrinkled and should be replaced despite relatively little use. Perhaps newer designs are better but when this finally fails we will replace it with a hinged door. A hinged door also gives you the chance to install storm glass in winter which this door obviously does not do. May 30, 2010
