Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by HJN11327 This product works great, however it takes more than just a simple effort to adapt to a different brand of 10" Solar Tubes.
1. Item is great but isn't as easily adapted to a different brand of Solar Tubes as literature says. This was designed for use wit ODL Solar Tubes and I bought Velux Tubes because they come with Aluminum Flashings and had a lower profile on the roof after installation. We did however get them adapted and we are very pleased with the results!
2. Just a little anxious now about changing batterys when they finally do expire.

I purchased two of the item. One works most of the time. The other one has not worked since I purchased it. I don't believe the solar chargers work for either one.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by David batteries die quickly & don't recharge
The reviews were good & I needed the light, so I bought 7 tubes, 3 with dimmers, through a roofing contractor & had them install them. They had easily installed many others (but not ODLs) & so quoted a low installation price.
All 3 dimmers hung up on internal wires & didn't close properly; ODL sent new ones but they had the same problem. The contractor had to disassemble them & tape the wires down & then they worked, briefly. The solar panel does not charge the batteries, they drain in only a few days even if not used at all. The device seems to have an actual energy drain when not in use. No amount of external recharging helped. In the end, they are not useable and were a total waste of money. I finally removed the batteries. (The dimmers were easy to install, mine just don't work.)
When finished installing the tubes and dimmers, the contractor said they won't install any more ODLs (at least at a low price). They spent many more hours than expected, mostly due to the plastic lining on the inside of the tubes being stuck in the joints, making the tubes difficult to impossible to turn to adjust the angle. They tried very hard to remove it all, but little success. A small number of joints turned easily, most turned hard, requiring the 2 men to struggle, and 2-3 froze up & wouldn't turn at all. The frozen ones eventually came apart & had to be reassembled, with mediocre results that reduced the resulting light a bit.
As for the light from the tubes, the result in smaller rooms is great. The bathroom, hall and kitchen no longer need electric lights most days. And yes, I did go around automatically trying to turn off lights at first. In the bigger rooms (TV, bed, computer and family) the tubes did make a difference, but not as much as I hoped. Bigger tubes, or more of them, might be better. The rooms with dimmers (TV, bed & computer) don't actually need them; I could have saved the money.
End game: the light is worthwhile, try another brand.
