Pivoting Clamp Vise is rated 3.3 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Elegant small vise I got this vise for the electronics bench in my shop, and it is serving me well. I like the swivel feature, but its range is a bit too short, and extra 10 degrees of movement would make a good product really excellent. The attachment clamp is only just wide enough to use on my bench which was made from kitchen counter top laminate. It would not fit on a thicker bench. The other problem is the the swivel will seize when unlocked and it takes some effort to free it. After reading the instructions I greased the swivel ball and that seems to have fixed the problem. Although I don't consider this very important it is a stylish vise- something that couldn't be said of my other vises.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best little tool in my shop I used the Olympia Pivoting vice immediately after delivery. Don't know how I have survived without this vice. It is the perfect vice for small complicated pieces. I have been holding small pieces in my fingers to shape them & that worked ok but my hand got very tired fast. The Olympic pivoting vice takes all the strain out and that makes it a bargain at twice the price. I shape Black bear & Grizzly bear claws out of Ipe wood for jewelry and it takes a lot of carving & sanding. This vice makes it so easy. I saw & rout the basic shape then use a belt sander to get close but it still takes a lot of carving & hand sanding. The last operation is to burnish the wood with a 1/4" steel rod and this vice makes it so easy. It grips well without over tightening and I have not had any damage from the jaws. It stays in place and is easy to adjust with just a flip of a large well placed lever. I can see lots of uses for this vice.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from This vice is barely adequate for light tasks The vice is made with very loose tolerances. There is a great deal of slop in the moving jaw. there was so much that I made a 0.023 inch shim that fit on top of the slide and that reduced the slop and gave the moveable jaw a more precise alignment. I intend to use the vice for holding parts while soldering. The plastic jaws could suffer deformation if a piece that is to be soldered is held directly in the plastic jaws. The locking mechinism (ball and socket) sticks after being locked in position and the vice must be lifted slightly to unlock the ball. I tried several types of heavy duty lubricants and none helped. the problem lies in a very narrow socket that the ball sits in. A deeper socket would eliminate the problem but, this is a casting design flaw and cannot be corrected.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Neat Product, A Little Overdone The pivoting feature of this vise is a great idea but it makes the entire thing a little difficult to work with. The added height of the clamp places the working height a little high but it does hold tightly and provides good stability

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice for hobbies, small stuff. Needed a small vise for my workbench. This works good for small items. The vise has a good range of movement and locks in place. The vise comes with rubber padding to cushion whatever you put into it.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not a great vise I do a lot of small work off my workbench, so I looked forward to trying this Olympia clamp vise. I have a small foreign made vise that is pretty cheap, so I was hopeful this Olympia was something better. Not so. The overall design is kind of weird, and has some basic flaws. Manipulating the vise head is awkward at best, and I never could get it to move into a 90-degree position. The little lever on the side that tightens and loosens the vise head is placed in a really bad spot, so it is right up against the workbench edge, or in the other position, out into your way. The clamp part doesn't have enough reach for a thick-topped bench. I actually had to shave a half-inch of wood off the top of my bench to get it to fit. Once you have the vise mounted, it just doesn't have a solid feel to it. I would not trust it to any work that is critical for precision. For a casual job, it may suffice.
