Assembly was accomplished easily and quickly. Cut through both hardwood and fibrous palm fronds with ease.More power than I expected for an 18V chain type saw, but maybe I should not have been surprised because I have almost all the Ryobi 18V tools. I am extremely happy with the saw. Well worth the money. As with all chain saws remove bar and chain oil after use and cover the storage surface---there will be a little leakage.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Treemendous Decent saw but let down by design flaws
Let me start by saying I am a huge Ryobi fan - I have a ton of their tools and this is probably the first I would write a critical review about. My biggest issue with this saw is the design on the chain tensioner. Most modern saws have quick adjustments for chain tension that don't require tools. Not so here - an (included) double ended allen wrench is required, first to loosen the bar, then to adjust tension with the other end, then tighten bar again. First problem - no on-board storage for said tool. Second problem - chain stretches a lot, requiring frequent adjustments. Third problem - and the worst - the tension adjustment is set by a small recessed allen head screw, and the recess quickly plugs with sawdust and oil. GRRRRR! Also, the saw leaks oil if placed in any position other than dead vertical, and the pole is super unsteady when the extension is used.Three strikes and yer out.. Cuts well, 18V L-I battery has plenty of power, but unless you are looking to cut one or two branches a day I'd stay away!

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Frankinny handi addition to my collection
This accessory would be rated much higher if the wand were made to telescope. I found this item very effective to use, at a very good price. Would highly recommend it to anyone.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Renee Excellent for trimming branches
I already had plenty of Ryobi One+ batteries so this was a nice addition. It's easy to assemble and you will be up and running in no time. It cuts surprisingly well and it easily sliced off 4" branches. For me it is a little hard to handle when the full extension is used, but I'm getting old and puny. The only other issue for me was that the chain kept slipping loose but I'm thinking that's because I'm not doing something right. Overall a very good value.

Worksgreat. Plentyofpower. A littleheavy for older people with full extension( I'm 63), but I can cut more than enough to work on the ground before I geT tired. Standard battery has plenty of life. Very happy with this and all of my ryobi tools.

Not good for my established wisteria tree. Got jammed really easy. Cumbersome and heavy and the strap just got in the way..

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Tom Better than I expected
I had an old hand me down ryobi battery chainsaw that was terrible, motor was too slow, so I was hesitant about the pole saw. After reading positive reviews I decided to give it a try. It cuts very well, motor spins way faster than the old chainsaw. Battery life is decent, I used 2 lithium batteries to trim all the branches I could reach on 24 spruce trees that I am taking down. After that and trimming some trees at my moms house, the chain needed to be sharpened. The chain is thinner than a regular chainsaw so I expected it to dull quicker. Buy a 5/32 file to sharpen it and you will be good to go. Also you better get more bar and chain oil, it takes the premium stuff that is thinner than regular chainsaw oil. The only bad thing I can say is it is quite heavy with the extension on it, but any pole saw that long is.
