Why don't the acrylic panels fit the light boxes; aren't drop in ready

The 2'x4' acrylic light panels are slightly larger than the light boxes and need to be cut. Why aren't they the right size?
Asked by: Reg
Our lighting panels are run at 23.75"x47.75" and are made to fit in a standard drop ceiling. HD sells replacement lighting panels for lighting fixtures in their Electrical Dept.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Average for this material type For the material type, this panel is average ... no better or worse than others I have seen ... of the same material. This is a better choice of material than the lesser priced models also offered by H.D. Less prone to cracking or breaking during installation and/or use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Made my kitchen look wonderful It is very pliable and easy to cut to the correct size and shape. I had 21 shapes to fill in my ceiling and of course none were the same size and some were odd shapes. I combined cracked ice clear light panels with silver egg crate panels. The kitchen ceiling looks awesome.
