Can I use these on a patio to take in & out during colder months to keep patio warmer? Screened in patio now.

Asked by: Ldyhskpr
Yes ! Depending on the size of your screen sections these would be perfect!! I bought these to use as storms on my house windows and despite getting 3 broken panels I am going to get more for my back porch that is all screen ! They are Very good for blocking wind and help hold the heat in :)

Best way to cut these????

I have dealt with about 3 or 4 different kinds of acrylic sheets before, all large size 3' x 6' or 4' x 8'........... some easily cut with the "scoring knife", others were very difficult. The last sheets I tried were 4' x 8' and were thicker, so the scoring did not work. I tried a circular saw with a new and very fine blade......... what a disaster...... it melted the plastic. So what should I use to cut these down to size????? Help! I need answers. Please!!!!
Asked by: Pammie
I've had luck cutting with a diamond blade on an angle grinder...but I use a variable speed grinder as slow as it will run. 3500 rpm even then it may melt some but that's better than chips or cracks

Protect outdoor rail

Could I use these sheets to cover a three foof high outdoor aluminium rail (with some openings) and make it wild safe. I need to do it without a visual efect to the facade of my building. If so, could i make some holes in it to fix it to the rail?
Asked by: Nachomons
Lexan would be a better product to use in this application.

Customer Reviews

36 in. x 72 in. Acrylic Sheets (6-Pack) is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 18.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product for price I used these for secondary glazing on my windows. Cut them with an acrylic knife with no problem. I read the reviews complaining about the packaging and I was worried. My sheets came with reinforced edges, bubble wrap, and separate packages of 3 inside a bigger box. Even though my outside box had a tear in it, the sheets were in perfect condition.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice storm window material I built my own storms with these using using some screen frames for support. They're working great so far, and the acrylic is easy to cut (I used a handheld circular saw with a fine-toothed plywood blade). It's extremely clear and bonds well to the frame. I docked a star for the packaging. This stuff ships direct from the manufacturer, and was insufficiently padded to avoid breakage -- in my pack, every sheet had one broken corner (ranging from 0.5 to 2" broken off). Luckily this wasn't an issue for me, as I had to cut them down to size and had scrap anyway. But, if you need the full sheet size as-is, you may want to call and plead for extra padding.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good, but..... The OPTIX sheets were used to enclose the lower level of our new home very near the Atlantic Ocean. The acrylic sheets were PERFECT for this application and were easily installed with stainless steel screws. However, the two packages received were damaged on all the corners (some worse than others). It shouldn't affect the performance, but certainly takes away from the overall appearance. I suggest better packaging for shipment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from just what we needed We are using these to make some interior storm windows and they have worked out great. We were a little concerned about some of the reviews saying they had arrived with cracks or broken corners but ours were packaged very well and all were in perfect condition.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exceptionally clear for sunroom application Easy to cut into 24" x 36" x .010" pieces by using fine-toothed circular saw blade reverse direction. Application was curved section (10) transitions from sloped to vertical. No problems with product in any way. However, I leaned over too far, kicked out the ladder, and landed in a world of hurt - my bad!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from good product had to cut to the size that I needed.these had a lot of cracks in them but I had to cut them down to the size that I needed for storm windows.the cracks were a couple of inch's long and deep but i made them work each panel had cracks on both edges and in differant places so if you need the full size I would go to the home depot store and get them so you can see what your buying.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Interior Storm Windows Fast shipping and great product! I fabricated (6) custom magnetic interior storm windows to better insulate our not-so-great house windows for a fraction of the cost of replacement windows. When I installed them, after fabrication, my wife couldn't tell they were there because the plexiglass is so clear. I don't know, yet, if they will reduce our energy bill but I can say that they have made our home more comfortable during the last hot days of summer while running the A/C at a higher temperature. I suspect our winter heating bill will be reduced and our home more comfortable as the heat loss through the glass windows should be stopped by both the magnetic seal and better insulating factor of these plexiglass interior storm window panes. I used the Bosch plexiglass jigsaw blades (sold at Home Depot) to cut the plexiglass to custom size to fit the existing window jambs and they worked great.
