Customer Questions & Answers

Shelf can I use this in a hutch to hold heavy china plates. Glass cut at 14"x20" 6 shelve total

Asked by: Ian
Would depend on the overall weight of the plates and how you secure the plastic sheet. The 1/4" thickness can be used in applications such as this.

Will this stand up straight without a frame around it, or will it bend slightly in the middle while standing up ?

I want to use this as a decorative wall, and I'll attach it to a base on the floor, but there won't be a frame around the actual glass. So can I do that and it'll stand up straight, just like a real glass would? If not, can you recommend one that will?
Asked by: Mendy
depends on the size.. 72 inches will bend but 36 will not.. I store the 36 x 72 sheet with the 36 standing and 72 laying down..

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not as 'clear' as I thought. Bought the larger sheet to replace a boat windshield. From all the research and reviews I found this was the way to go. However, I'm not sure what I purchased was Optix brand as advertised. Optix comes with a paper protective covering. This was covered with plastic saran wrap. Looks nice at first glance and working up close. After installation and moving back from it a number of feet, you can see the ripples and uneveness throughout. I would hate to use this on larger windows as it would look bad. Not the smooth clarity of glass at all as described. I believe the real Optix brand is made with higher quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Acrylic Sheet It cut fine on a table saw, with a fine tooth blade. The problem came when I drilled holes for some hinges. It drilled OK. I drilled holes slightly smaller then the sheet metal screws I planned to use to connect the hinge. When I tried to insert the screw, the sheet cracked about 4 inches. The problem was caused be my lack of knowledge & experience with the product. I redrilled the holes for screws with washers & nuts. Then mounted the hinges. Everything went fine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good stuff While mowing my hay field.. picked up something that came thru my glass door of my tractor,, total destroyed it,, glass all over the place.. cost for a new door.. 1385 dollars.. so I decided I would build one out of acrylic,, which I did.. the only thing I would say is use a new steel jig saw blade,, fine cut,, the cutter they try to sell you is nice on straight cuts.. but not worth a darn on curves cuts.. a jigsaw will cut right thru it,, cut fast because the blade gets hot and will stick to the plastic or spray with cool water while cutting.. cost for the new door around 130 dollars.. it is lighter than the glass door but it keeps the bugs out and the cold air in..

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product with lots of uses. A friend has a wraparound pouch that has more the 100 small windows. These windows are constantly being broken by storm damage. I use the Optix to make replacment windows. It is easy to cut, and doesn't break. It is clear as glass and cleans up easily. I also use it in making bird and squirrel feeders.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from clear and discriptive I used this sheet as a top to a pantry that need a little more light. It worked great it allowed me to still put things on top, bright more light in and I don't have to worry about it breaking like glass would. The only down side was the cost a little more than a $100 it serve the purpose and cut easy with a carbite tip blade. Overall it looks great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good product for what I needed it for. Product has a nice finish. It appears to be durable. It is working well as a substitue for glass as small table top insert.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Size for a Great Price I used it for a Backlit sign and it was amazing! Considering that the only other stores that had a sheet this size were over at the West Coast, California, this was such a relief. No need to pay over $200 in freight charges for this.
