Two questions: (1) From your answer I now know that the sealant should not be applied to surfaces 90F and higher, but if bubbling has occured can the bubbles simply be "popped" with a pin or nail and then apply another layer over the existing when the surface temperature drops below 90F? (2) The directions say "do not tool" (probably because the sealant is so sticky that tooling does not work) - can the sealant be tooled during application by using a tool or perhaps a finger dipped in a small amount of mineral spirit and sliding the tool or finger gently over the newly applied sealant?
Asked by: JAWA350
Thank you for taking the time to share your questions. 1) If the sealant has bubbled it is best to wait until sealant is fully cured, then cut the bubble completely out before reapplying. Do not apply additional sealant over a popped bubble. 2) Tooling is not recommended because the sealant does shrink during the cure process. In general tooling of this type of sealant results in beads that may be too thin or do not have sufficient surface contact to withstand normal expansion/contraction of the building substrates. This situation can lead to more frequent maintenance situations. Due to the technical nature of your situation, if you have further questions or need assistance, we ask that you call our tech team at 800-624-7767 so we can help. Ask for the application specialist. Thank you!

Specs say it can be applied in heat. Can it be applied to hot aluminum flashing at noon in summer sun?
Asked by: JAWA350
The QUAD Advanced Formula sealant is a solvent based product. Appling in the heat refers to ambient conditions not surface temperatures. If the surface is too hot the sealant will sag and may cause immediate bubbling of the sealant due to rapid “flash-off” of the solvent content. Surfaces should be below 90F during application. Appling this type of sealant under the conditions you described is not a good idea so try to avoid these conditions. If these conditions cannot be avoided we recommend using a Polyurethane Sealant instead such as the PL Polyurethane Window, Door and Siding Sealant or the PL Polyurethane Roofing & Flashing Sealant.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good caulking Excellent product. Make sure you allow plenty of cure time before you want to paint, minimum required is 7 days. Use mineral spirits to clean up, the only thing that works.
