OWT hardware produces strong connections as well as enhancement to your project design, with a wide range of connectors and components you can use your imagination to build a project that is uniquely your own. All OWT Wood Ties are made with ultra heavy gauge steel and hot dipped galvanized after fabrication. Although OWT is designed to perform in outdoor environments it is equally functional for interior projects. OWT has also been engineered to make installation faster and easier with industry leading features and attachment techniques. Unlike conventional wood posts bases and brackets, OWT does not require extra labor and materials to conceal them, saving time and money.

The (8) screws hold the plates onto the post and the plates key into the base. Very sturdy if installed correctly. Just make sure you choose the right anchors.

Hi Aswonka, the side plate is secured to the base plate at the bottom. Then the side plate is attached to the post using the bolts. That is how the post is supported. This is very strong.

Answer:
Yes, but the real advantage of these is to retrofit to existing surfaces. If you are pouring piers why not cast in your pier bases? Also, the size seems a bit large for (4) 4X posts. Those are some big spans. I would check the recommended footing specs for the structure you are planning

Yes, they have a hole in the bottom center where you can put a concrete J hook to attach it to the pier.

Good afternoon. I'm concerned that the post will move if someone leans on it. I will be securing the base to a new concrete patio. do the bolts hold the post in place to the base along with the tabs, forging a solid connection? I am a DIYer, and I'm probably over-thinkin' it, but why won't the post move?

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Quality Product Heavy duty and decorative......Easy installation......Best on the market..... June 28, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great solution for surface mounted rail posts Very sturdy once assembled. Very well packaged and easy to install. Note: you will need your own anchor screws or bolts depending on the surface you have. I used GRK screws into double 4X blocking below for a tight mount. I also put a dot of silicone caulk at each screw entry point and covered the top of each screw with another. August 16, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Wow Great product easy to use and no more ugly galvanized brackets! These bracket look awesome and really give your project a professional look. July 26, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good buy!! Easy to install. Looks great. I would definitely buy this product or other products from this Company again. April 28, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Laredo Sunset Post Base Kit - excellent choice The post kit was used to anchor a 4x4 post to our deck to hold a hose reel. The base was easy to anchor to our deck with 5 bolts. The four individual side plates snapped onto the base and are then attached to the post by 2 bolts in each plate. Overall, the post is solidly anchored to our deck, plus the post kit looks good. June 24, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Finely, a product that really is as advertised. GREAT! This Post Base Kit is really well built, sturdy and easy to install. The post base looks great and gives the deck the tough antique look I want. I am building my deck out of really old and strong reclaimed lumber, with a mix of new treated lumber. Mixing the old with new I have found is a great way to remodel my house in todays economy. My deck has 15 Laredo post bases installed on it and my deck is starting to look great. I just wish Home Depot would carry the post bases in the store. instead of on line. June 10, 2014
