I have removed the soft rot and applied wood hardener on the bare wood that now needs to be patched. I think I would like to use a putty rather than a paste due to ease of moulding. Is this a good product for a novice to use? Is there a better one?

Rated 4.1 out of 5 by 13 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Exactly what I needed I was looking for something to fix a crack in my dashboard of my car. I had brought epoxy glues but they did not hold. I came across this product and read the reviews and decided to try it. It was perfect for what I wanted. I just followed the directions, mixed the putty and applied it to the crack in the dashboard and smoothed it out. I waited until the next day to sand and spray paint black to match the dashboard color and it came out perfect. It dries hard as a rock. I have already used it again to fix a part in my other car that broke from wear and tear. I definitely recommend this product. July 21, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Contains a carcinogen. From the manufacturer's MSDS: "This product contains a chemical known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm. (Talc, not containing asbestiform fibers and crystalline silica, non - repirable)." If you are using this product you better be handling it with extreme caution. September 25, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good 2 part epoxy, like any other but better price This stuff is exactly like other I used. Same consistency, same smell. Just better price. I read other reviews. And no, you do not have plenty of time. Read the instructions and follow literally. You have 3 to 5 minutes to mix it and stick it to something you are fixing. When it is getting warm you are almost too late. In 5 minutes it will be hard like a rock and not stick to anything. So mix it as fast as you can, it is not that hard, no more than 3 minutes and apply. I used 5 sticks so far for cement repairs. March 24, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by not good Epoxy would not harden after 2 days. I am returning it. August 12, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Fix all Best price for epoxy putty that I could find anywhere. Extremely useful stuff around the shop, as it sticks to just about anything .and forms a permanent very hard durable yet machinable mend. If you don't mind the color (light grey) its about twice the value for the money of any similar product on the market. March 27, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy to use and convenient. It has a distinct odor but really works as advertised. You can use only the amount you need and save the rest for later. I have found it still works like new even a year later - just keep the tube closed. Have been using Oatey epoxy putty for at least five years. February 4, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by a little trick to make using it easy Some reviews were talking about it being so sticky to work with and sticking to your hands. The trick is keeping your hands wet with water, You can spread and smooth it with out it sticking to your hands,Keep a wet rag while working with it. You can even drop a little water on it it will cure even under water. I love this stuuf have used it for years.I works great on any gravity drain.( Not for pressure stuff as water pipes). It is made by many companies and under many names, but it all works the same. November 16, 2013
