Product Overview

Made of a 40 mm thick, flexible sheet, the Oatey shower pan liner is an economical, time-tested flexible pan liner that is marked in 6 in. increments for ease of measuring. It can be used as a waterproofing membrane in tile shower installations. This is a precut product; to remove creases and folds, it is recommended to lay the liner on a flat, dry surface and use a hair dryer to warm the product and then lay something flat on top of it while it is still warm. If this is not desirable, Home Depot stores have a large roll that one can cut to specific sizes.

  • Durable PVC construction
  • Meets ASTM standard d4551
  • Superb cold weather characteristics
  • Precut at 5 ft. x 6 ft.
  • 40mm thick

Customer Questions & Answers

I need to order the oatey shower pan liner in a 5 x 9. I see that my only options are 5 x 6 or the full roll which will leave a lot of waste.

I would like to order the specific amount that is needed. The home depot store in San Luis Obispo continually to not have it. Please replay.

Perhaps you have a relative or friend that can purchase it for you by the foot off of a store roll and mail it to you. It must remain rolled when mailed, many have complained of permanent wrinkles from buying the folded kit.

Can you tile right over this shower liner or do you need to put a layer of concrete on top of it?

yes, you need to mix a wheel barrow with concrete sand mix wet just enough to make a ball in your your hand. what your trying to accomplish is a slight pitch from the walls so water will drain away. using a level and letting the the bubble touch the line on the high side will give the pitch thats needed, you dont want to be standing in a funnel . be sure to leave enough clearance from the drain top for tile thickness and thinset.

Compatible with CPVC pipe? Can this liner safely make long-term contact with CPVC pipe? I ask this because the plasticizers in electrical wire and cable can weaken CPVC pipe and should therefore not make long term contact with CPVC pipe. So, I'm wondering if this liner has plasticizers, or anything else, that can damage CPVC pipe with long term contact.
Asked by: Nick
There should not be any long term issue with these two materials in contact with each other.

I need to use a glue to keep this liner in place. What kind of glue is recomended for use which will not damage the liner itself.

Asked by: Leo
You might check www.youtube but I have always nailed it in place. Keep your nails about 5 inches up from the bottom.

5 ft. x 6 ft. Shower Pan Liner Roll is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from works as it should. I recently did a shower using this liner and it worked out great. I prefer solid, premade shower bases but when on a budget, this is the way to go. When buying it in these precut sizes, be warned that it will have wrinkles but they are not hard to flatten out if you take your time when installing it.

I used a preformed liner on a previous remodel and found it much easier, but it was much more expensive. If you have a small budget, then this liner is your solution

Rated 5 out of 5 by from good product This liner is a good weight and flexible to put in a shower bottom. I have a way to make it even better. On a good warm day I put it on a clean place outside in the sun to warm it up. Just long enogh to make it warm. Then bring it in and install it while it is warm to form it to the shower bottom. I have done many showers and for me this works well. If you are new at this check a few sights on www.youtube to be familiar with installation.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Shower Pan Liner This is a good shower pan liner which is needed for most bathroom remodels. Installation was easy after the dreaded packaging fiasco. It does indeed come folded, but heeding other peoples warning, it should be left out in direct sunlight to heat up and undo the creases and folds form shipping. After this the liner becomes soft and malleable, making it easy to install. But, it does need to be easily handled during this time.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Folds do not come out! Do not buy this product folded up in a package. Save yourself a huge time-waster and buy it on the roll, or buy another pan liner solution. The creases from the folds do not come out (yes, I tried a hair dryer, hot iron over wet towel, and letting it lay flat). While searching the internet for a solution I found that this folded up mess has been an on-going problem for a long time. I called Oatey directly to ask for a solution. The rep I spoke with was very polite and very aware of the problem. She stated that she had spoken with the engineers regarding this issue and they recommend the use of an adhesive under the liner with the use of heavy weights placed over each of the creases while the adhesive dries. This is not acceptable. AND if the adhesive doesn't stick you're left with a bigger mess to tear out of your shower. So much work to go through when you can just buy it on the roll. However, I will not buy another liner from Oatey.
