Answer:
This PVC glue sets very quickly. The instructions say to hold in place for 30 seconds, and on the project I just completed, I would say that you have at most 20 seconds before a glued joint becomes solid. It's impossible to move the joint after 30 seconds.
If you need a slow set, you do not want this product.

Instructions state to hold the pipe joint in place for 30 seconds. Set time would be substantially less.

Answer:
The set up/cure time is dependent on several factors. The pipe size, socket fit, ambient temperature, relative humidity, solvent cement used and the system operating pressure should all be considered when determining set up/cure times.

Answer:
This is PVC cement and pretty potent as a solvent. I would not use it for any patch. Not sure it would dissolve vinyl, but if it did you would have a bigger hole.

I know in the specs it says "Pipe Cement, Primer & Cleaner", and for another can of PVC cement of Christy's brand which I know doesn't require primer it says the same thing. So does anyone know if I need to buy a separate can of primer or is this an all-in-one dealie?

Answer:
The directions on the can mention "Clean pipe and fitting with a listed primer", but that's all it says. No other mention of it being a primer & cleaner anywhere on the can.
In the past I've used similar clear PVC cements without primer and had no issues, but I now just keep a can of the purple primer on hand, so I now always use the primer.

Answer:
In the category, it is under "Pipe Cement, Primer & Cleaner" but this one is solely a cement. Primer is required according to code.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.6 out of 5 by 10 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works great, glued joints are rock solid My jar of the blue thicker glue had turned to jelly after a few months, so I picked up this "Regular" PVC cement. I don't typically need the features of the thicker blue Rain-R-Shine cement, and prefer this thinner more liquid version--less messy and easy to apply. I used it on a pool drain pipe with some of the purple primer, and the joints were rock solid in seconds. Easy to use and works great, good price. April 5, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Exellent Product! This cement does the job. I was able to apply a PVC extender and successfully install a bathtub spout. April 5, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good product It's PVC glue. The purpose of which is to bond two pieces of plastic pipe together. The quality depends upon the knowledge of the person using it. I know how to use it and it worked great. September 1, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Did what it said it would do no leaks, everything stuck together. only had to do it once. July 26, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Its PVC cement not a savings bond! This stuff works, follow directions, use primer and you will not have leaks. My rule of thumb is to lightly sand each piece to break glaze, hit each joint with purple primer, coat each joint with cement , assemble give a quarter turn and hold for 10 15 seconds. You will have a perfect joint. As far as lasting, its not an investment its cement not a savings bond. When it gets unusable go buy another can. its five bucks common don't be a cheap skate!. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by well pleased preformed well. I am pleased with this product. it preformed as advertised. January 15, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works great for me! I bought a can october 2010 and used the rest today 3/17/12. It was just as good today as the day I bought it. It seems that if you're careful not to get it all over the can it can be a pretty good investment anyway. (but I would still recommend mutual funds) March 17, 2012
