wasted a lot of time and frustration using the teflon tape on a main line water shutoff valve. sure enough it leaked, pull it all off and start over !! next time the valve went into the bench vise and I used GREAT WHITE pipe and joint compound in liberal amounts all over the threads of the fittings and cranked them on with a pipe wrench.
worked like a CHAMP ! I'm sold on this stuff...forget the teflon tape !

I've used this product in the 1oz and 4oz sizes over the past two years, and it has never once stopped a threaded pipe joint from leaking. Among the places it's failed: at the threaded joint where the ice maker line connects to the refrigerator; where the ice maker line connects to the saddle valve; where a shower head connects to the pipe that sticks out of the wall; and where water lines connect to toilets.

Initially tried teflon tape on a pipe connection for a washing machine, and could not get a good seal. Tried this product and it worked well, with no leaks.

Tried using teflon tape, but there was a slow water leak (dishwasher connection). So tried this, but it's still leaking.
