Answer:
Yeah, buy a different one, this thing is junk! The answer your question however, I'm going to try to take mine and have it welded up or fill it with sand, I think that's what I will do since Ohio steel is no help and neither is Tractor Supply where I purchased mine. Sorry I couldn't be of more help, good luck!

Answer:
Your have to use a socket to unscrew the bolt in the fill plug. This will shrink the rubber plug so you can pry it out with a screw driver.

Answer:
Hello LindaMac,
The fill plug is located on the side of the drum. It should be located on the same side as the branding label. I've included a link to the instructions below as well. I hope this helps.
Cheers,
Chris

Answer:
Sand may be used but it typically weighs more than water so please consult the owners manual of your tractor or ATV for the towing capacity. A roller of this size completely filled with sand weighs approximately 1300 lbs.

Customer Reviews

Rated 3.6 out of 5 by 19 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Steel Lawn Roller Easy to use and store. Great product for our schools! August 9, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Bad purchase! Just like some of the other reviews have stated regarding leakage, mine is brand new (3 hours use) used for 2 seasons over a flat 2 acre lawn once per season and the bushing on the label side is shot and leaking water fast. Ohio Steel is no help. You could not give me another one! Very angry and disappointed. April 22, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Lawn Roller Pro: Easy assembly, easy towing, water plug effective Con: Very thin steel. Expect major dents over rough ground. Good value for price but not truly professional grade. August 18, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Though I haven't gotten the chance to use it, it went together easily and looks to be fully functional. The biggest problem with this roller was the purchase process. Unlike other stores, I could not just drive to Home Depot, buy a roller and have it put in the back of my pickup. I had to order online, then wait a week for it to go from one place in Columbus OH to another place in Columbus OH. Then finally a trucking company called me and wanted to schedule a delivery several more days later. This would have meant I would have had to take off work. Luckily I had a contractor working on my property who was nice enough to sign for it when it was finally delivered. Then I had to assemble it. No big deal. But I've yet to be able to use it. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Well worth the money. So far so good! Most of the items that I order from HD is good quality and always seems to work as advertised. If you're not used to a roller or not sure if your tractor can safely handle the weight, then start with 1/3 full and try the worst terrain that you have to do, then slowly work your way up. Remember--- it's not the starting that is the hardest, it's the stopping and if you're going downhill that weight multiplies exponentially. On hilly terrain carry a wooden wedge to drop in front to avoid a runaway. Otherwise metal roller is the best so it's not puctured by sharp rocks. It may dent but at least it will still be usable. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Roller for the Yard Work Bought this roller for getting my lawn smoother. It was a concern of mine if my lawn tractor would be able to pull it up some of the grades in the yard. My 18HP lawn tractor did it with ease. The roller does a great job and I look forward to using it more and more. I haven't mastered keeping the plug in the end of it, but eventually I'll get it to stay put. The hitch pin and clip are a nice finishing touch. Easy to assemble. April 30, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Poor quality and product support Product leaked before we even used it. Called Ohio Steel-product states it has a warranty. Ohio Steel told us to have someone come out and weld all leaks or we could take roller somewhere to have it welded. We should pay for repair, forward copy of bill to them, and they will send us a check for $35.00. YOU TELL WHAT PROFESSIONAL WILL COMPLETE THIS REPAIR FOR $35!!! Huge let down. Do NOT buy this product. April 3, 2012
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Nothing to brag about ! I used this 920lb roller two seasons on about two acres of grass, now it leaks out the axle as fast as I pump water in. There is nothing professional grade about this roller. May 28, 2014
