I was very impressed with the quality. Heavy metal and solid material. I have almost an acre of yard and with the 48" wide Ohio Steel Aerator I was done punching holes withing a couple of hours. It performed as it said and punched 2 to 3 inch holes about 3 to 4 inches apart. I could not find another aerator that could even come close and I tried 3 others. Works great right after a good rain or other means of water. The tray holds 5 center blocks easily and you don't need to strap them down. The Aerator is wonderful. I had no problems going over roots or occasional rocks. Performance was better than I could have imagined. Well worth the money to me.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Bandman66 You get more than what you pay for!
This American made aerator is high quality but for a reasonable price. Assembly instructions are clear and easy to follow. Machine is super easy to use. It was all I was looking for and more. I will be using this to improve and maintain my lawn for many years to come. The only suggestion I would have would be to have the weight tray wider (front to back by an inch) to more easily accommodate the concrete blocks used for weight and to be able to attach tie-downs to make it a more secure unit, but it does work if you manage to get the hooks from the tie-downs in the holes in the tray.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by StevenA Great Heavy Duty Aerator
After using another manufacturer's tow behind core aerator (which worked OK) I decided on this one because of the large pnumatic tires and it is commercial grade. (I lend out my tools frequently and I wanted something that would hold up to abuse) It Pulls great plugs from the lawn, and each corer is spring loaded. Assembly took just over an hour and was pretty basic. I expect this product to last a lifetime. I would recommend

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by BubbaMD Great product, easy to assemble and use.
The box arrived a week after ordering, took two hours to assemble, both wheels were deflated requiring professional help from the tire store.
Product works well as specified, after a trial and some frustration I built a temp wood cage to hold the two hundred pounds of sand bags from falling out (would recommend the factory add a cage as an option). Spent four hours in August aerating my two hilly acres for the first time, had to wait for a good rain storm to soften the hard top, the results were obvious in two weeks. I Recently aerated the the lawn again and could not be happier with the results, product quality and the ease of use.

Well, where do I start? I bought this product because it said it was "professional grade." I used it to do 5 residential yards, approx. 8k-10k square feet each, and now the spot welds that hold the rear axles on are both broken loose and the tires are leaning way in at the top. My second complaint is that in order for you to get any kind of penetration at all, the ground has to be so wet that the mower pulling the device leaves huge tire ruts. Overall, I am very disappointed with this piece of equipment and will go back to renting next season.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by John "Professional" Grade 48 in. Core Plug Aerator
Unit is easy to assemble but the number of parts to assemble makes process slow taking a couple hours at minimum. Unit was missing one plug spring and one of the wheel brackets had an axle mounted on such an angle that the wheel rubbed on the frame. Wheel is about a 35-40 angle when it should be vertical. Ordered both parts from Ohio Steel but all I ever got was the spring, in fact they sent two of those only needed one of those. No communication from those folks at all. Seemed to work ok but need to wait till the ground is a little softer. Needed four concrete blocks and the wife sitting on the blocks in order to get deep plugs.
Think the unit will be OK when ground is softer.
If the customer service were better could recommend but in today's world the poor customer service makes recommending this product impossible.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by shawnsplace Solid machine
Since I just assembled this machine today I haven't had a chance to use it. It is very solid and sturdy. Everything is well machined and fits perfectly. The instructions are simple and the pictures are helpful. The assembly time for me was twice as long (4 hours) as some others had noted. There are 40 tines and each takes a minute to a minute and a half to place. I am very satisfied with the finished product and looking forward to using it.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Curt Effective for large turf areas
I searched for the heaviest duty of the inexpensive pull type core aerators, and this one was selected. It is not a real heavy duty machine, however it served well for our operation. This aerator was used on about ten acres of turf and held up well during the first season of use.
The spring loaded tines worked well at penetrating the soil and did not damage the turf as the spoons exited the soil as rigid tine do. The foot lever made raising the tines easier than another model we had with just a hand lever.
It would be a better unit if the frame was made from thicker steel. Nevertheless, there has been no bending or breakage.
