Product Overview

An attractive fern with stiff fertile fronds that emerge in spring as a green color, but quickly turn to a brown hue. • Adds a lush, tropical look to the shade garden
  • Brings dramatic appeal to moist shaded areas
  • 1 Gal. pot - state or federal regulations may require this plant to ship as a bare root plant, without pot and without soil
  • Plant ships as a bare root plant, without pot and without soil, to Arizona, California, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah and Washington
  • May ship in a dormant state, with no top growth at all
  • Performs best in plant growing zones 3 to 9, when grown in other zones, special care requirements will be required
  • When shipped as a bare root plant, the shake and ship system has been used to remove soil from roots

Answer:
Hello, Fran. The fern should put forth stiff fronds in early spring, followed by fiddleheads in early summer, and remain attractive throughout summer. In autumn, the fern turns yellow before beginning its winter dormancy.
