Answer:
Thank you for your inquiry. Hidcote Lavender can be grown in a pot for a few years, but eventually it will need to be planted outside in the ground or into a larger pot where its roots can adequately spread and develop. The plant can be tricky to grow as it likes it hot and dry with a not-too-dry, not-too-wet soil moisture.

Answer:
Thank you for your inquiry. Yes, every spring the plant should be cut back. Shape into a trimmed mound by removing 2 to 6 in. of growth, without cutting into the thicker woody stems. After each flowering period, remove old blooms by cutting the stem where the foliage begins at the base of the flower stem.

Customer Reviews

Rated 3.9 out of 5 by 10 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Lavender Review The lavender bush arrived in good shape. & is growing well. June 16, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Pleasantly Surprised I am generally hesitant about ordering plants to be shipped. It has been my experience that by the time they arrive, the plants are just shy of dead. Not to mention basically nothing but roots. This time was different. While the plants were clearly young, they were shipped in dirt, securely, and once I opened the box and removed the wrapping, the plants were nice and green. I planted them immediately, although it has only been a couple of weeks, they are thriving. It is too soon to know if they will survive the long term, but they are off to a good start. April 24, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by More blooms! Plant arrived healthy, with a bloom. (In August). Another has cropped up since. Lovely plant. September 2, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Bought 3 and All Wilted I bought 3 of these lavenders and they all wilted though I provided full sun and decent drainage. I also bought 3 plants from another nursery of a similar cultivar but smaller size and those are growing so a bit disappointed with the Homedepot plants. September 6, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by not 1 gallon The plant was not in a 1 gallon pot and was smaller than I expected. It had begun to bloom and smelled heavenly right out of the box so I gave a good rating for that reason. It will make a nice addition to my flower beds. June 3, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Plant was ready to go into the ground. Received in good condition and ready to plant, however i was surprised to see that it was not a one gallon container as advertised. It was a small plant in a half gallon container. At first i thought it was just me, but i compared it to my other containers and it was definitely not 1 gallon. March 18, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by heavenly when i opened the box, heaven. the smell of lavendar filled the air. the three plants were already in bloom and ready to plant. no waiting until next season to enjoy the fragrance. i cant wait until next year to begin drying the lavendar to use inthe house, or adding to cooking recipes and making tea. wonderful. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Did not bloom This plant died without any blooms. I was very sad. August 23, 2013
