Answer:
Hello. Yes, the Purple Coneflower is a perennial. The plant will produce flowers in summer, die back in late autumn, overwinter underground, and then emerge again in spring, continuing this same process each subsequent year.

Answer:
Hello, Renee. To have two different colored blooms on a single plant is a rare occurrence yet nothing to be concerned about. The plant has some past DNA which has resurfaced. Trimming that part out will prevent the perennial from putting its energy into the white flowers.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Mine are doing okay, so far First, buy these in the store if possible. They are significantly cheaper. I planted two southern belle, one white swan, and one magnus purple cultivar the same day i bought them. The vibrant and healthy plants began to yellow and wilt within 2 days. After soaking the ground (way more water than you'd think you'd need), they perked up. August 22, 2014
