Product Overview

A sport of Hosta 'Francee' with the same clumping form and sporty, dark green leaves but with wider, irregular margins. Tall, lavender flower spikes bloom in mid-summer about the bold foliage. Answer:
The best times to plant hostas are when they are actively making new roots, in the spring after the first flush of leaves has hardened off and in late summer once the hottest weather is past.

Answer:
Hi, Mary. The 'Patriot prefers normal soil that is well drained as its roots will rot in standing water. The variegated foliage is strongest when grown in partially shaded, morning-sun conditions. It does tolerate fully shaded, moist yet well drained locations.

Answer:
Hello, Matt. Hostas do not like "wet feet" so providing 1" of water per week in the form of irrigation or rainfall is adequate. A full 5-gallon bucket is equal to 1" of water.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Wonderful, hardy plant! I bought three of these about a year and a half ago and planted them in my back yard. I don't exactly have a green thumb and end up killing most of the plants I've owned over the years and was a bit worried about these hostas in the GA heat. They looked a little smaller the first year and obviously not that great during the winter, but ever since the weather warmed up they have more than doubled in size and look amazing! I've never watered them and they are planted and in full sun. Definitely recommend these and will be planting them around other areas of our house because of this great experience. June 12, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Patriot Plantain Lily Excellent Customer Service prior to receiving these plants. Plants were shipped bare root and showed signs of leaf buds a week to ten days after planting. Clear easy to follow Instructions for planting included in box. Plants packed carefully and arrived in great condition. Will provide additional information as plant grows more. I am expecting great success based on the quality of the plants I received and the great condition they were in upon unpacking and planting. February 20, 2010
