Product Overview

The waxy blue, succulent leaves of this long lived perennial thrives in full sun and poor soils. Boldly colored, rosy pink, flat topped, flower clusters appear in late summer, then age to a salmon bronze hue, and finally turning a deep coppery red color in fall. It's tight growth habit with no flopping over makes it a good filler plant for the perennial border and rock garden.

  • Butterflies and bumblebees are attracted to flowers
  • Very showy when in bloom
  • A tough, low maintenance plant for any garden
  • 1 gal. pot - state or federal regulations may require this plant to ship as a bare root plant, without pot and without soil
  • May ship in a dormant state, with no top growth at all
  • This plant ships bare root, with no pot and no soil, to Arizona, California, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, and Washington
  • Performs best in plant growing zones 5 to 9, when grown in other Zones, special care requirements will be required
  • To accommodate mature size or when planting in groups, space 24 in. away from other plants or structures
  • When shipped as a bare root plant, the Shake & Ship system has been used to remove soil from roots

Answer:
Hello, thank you for your question. The Sedum can indeed be planted in the Fall; it can be planted until the ground freezes. Right now, the plant has been trimmed back for winter. Its bare stems are about 4" in height. The plant will remain without foliage until Spring, at which time new foliage will form and grow.

Answer:
Thank you for your question. The Abbeydore Sedum is a perennial in Zone 5. The plant grows in a clump, and over time, that clump gets larger and may need dividing. They do not spread or multiply, although clump division brings forth more plants.

Answer:
Thank you for your question. Autumn Fire Sedum is an improvement over Autumn Joy Sedum as it has sturdier stems, a much deeper red color, longer lasting blooms, and is more cold hardy. The mature height of both varieties is the same, about 2 ft. tall.
