What size area will grow 1 gal. of daisies? Do they need daily soaking with water? Will they multiply and need to be thinned out? If so, how often? Is the afternoon sun too hot for them to thrive?
Asked by: Sis
Hi Sis, the Becky Daisy will spread 1-3 ft. over time. Grow in full sun (or light shade in hot areas) and moist but well-drained soil of average fertility. They usually do not require daily water soaking because they do not like "wet feet" but will wilt when the soil is completely dry, such as during the hot summer months, so regular watering is very important, especially if planted in drier soils. Deadhead regularly to prolong bloom period. Divide every two or three years to maintain vigor. What size pot would you use to plant

Asked by: patti
Hello, Patti, the plant is currently in a 6" wide with a 6" depth pot, so any container larger than this will suffice, with 10" diameter being ideal.

Hello, Erby. This Shasta daisy blooms each year from July to September. For maximum color, remove spent (dead) flower heads to promote additional blooms.

I hope the flowers turn out as well as the picture; I wish the description would list the size/diameter of daisy's so I'll know it they match my current daisy's in the back yard. I'm happy the plants were alive and once planted for last two weeks seems to take hold in normal dirt with no special prep. The flowers were all rooted together; so I had to separate them out carefully and cut a little bit off of some roots to get them apart. So, gain very happy that the plants were healthy enough to take the cutting and separating out and continue to grow.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst purchaseI I ever made online I purchased online because the product showing was exactly what I wanted. Daises were my "wedding bouquet" 40+ years ago, so I was excited about planting some now I have a garden. Also bought online so I would not have to drive about 30 miles as I was on a media deadline. Below is a photo of what I received. They were not in gallon pots. I immediately called customer service in Atlanta, gentleman was very polite and said I could return them, but no you don't pick them up I have to take them to a Home Depot!! Delighted you asked as I was trying to find time to call again and let you know that the product that is being sent out is not what it should be and you should know about it.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Thought I'd be getting a gallon-sized plant.... Home Depot describes this as a one gallon plant, but my plant arrived as a single stalk, about eighteen inches tall and weighing three ounces. $19 for this seems extremely excessive, Maybe Home Depot meant that when it reaches its full growth it eventually becomes gallon-sized, but I wish they had made that clearer in the description. I realize it will eventually grow and fill out, but not what I thought I was ordering.
