Questions & Answers

Will this keep ants away

Asked by: lee
Hello, thank you for your question. The Cinnamon fern does not emit the familiar cinnamon scent. It is this strong scent of Cinnamon itself that supposedly interferes with an ant's ability to communicate with other ants.

Can you make you own ground cinnamon from this plant?

Asked by: Planter01
Hello, the readily available, edible, commonly found in grocery stores, ground cinnamon comes from a tree and not from this Cinnamon fern. Its name is derived from its cinnamon colored fronds.

How long will a fern plant stay in a dormant stage

Asked by: Fran
Hello, Fran. The fern should put forth stiff fronds in early spring, followed by fiddleheads in early summer, and remain attractive throughout summer. In autumn, the fern turns yellow before beginning its winter dormancy.

Honestly I got a gallon of dirt with two skinny little fern fronds sticking out. I have not planted for fear of it not surviving. I have left it in it's pot near where I would plant it. Will report back if it grows, but as of now I am not impressed and would not recommend.
